In the spring of 2008 the Lagrange baseball team was in danger of being shut down.
The team was losing players, money, and had little hope. But one man decided to fight for the team.
That man was Coach Tony. This is his story.
The Early Years
Grange Baseball dates back to the early years of the 20th century. The first recorded game took place in 1909, when the Lagrange Athletic Club defeated the local YMCA team 9-3. However, it is believed that baseball was being played in Lagrange long before that.
The first professional team in Lagrange was the LagrangeTimerators, who played in the Georgia State League from 1912-1914. The Timerators were followed by the Lagrange Grays (1915-1916), Lagrange Industrials (1917-1918), and Lagrange Red Sox (1919).
In 1920, the Red Sox became the first team in Lagrange to win a championship, defeating Albany 3-2 in the finals of the Georgia State League. The Red Sox would go on to win two more championships in 1922 and 1923.
The First Team
In the spring of 1845, a group of young men from Lagrange, Illinois, came together to form the first Baseball Team in the town’s history. The team was made up of players from all over the area, including some who had never played the game before. Despite their lack of experience, the team quickly became a force to be reckoned with, winning nearly every game they played.
The team’s success was due in large part to the skill of their star player John Kinzie. Kinzie was a talented pitcher and hitter, and he quickly became the face of the team. His aggressive style of play inspired his teammates and helped them overcome any obstacle.
The team’s run came to an end in 1846, when they were defeated in the Championship game by a team from nearby Chicago. Although they didn’t win the title, the Lagrange baseball team left a lasting legacy on the town and helped to establish baseball as one of America’s favorite pastimes.
The First Game
The first game in Lagrange’s new minor league season was on May 5th, 2016. The team, the Lagrange Hussars, was playing the Lexington Horsemen. It was a beautiful day for baseball, and the Hussars were determined to start the season off with a win. The game was close, but in the end, the Hussars pulled ahead and won 3-2. The team was off to a great start!
The First Season
The first season of Lagrange Baseball was filled with close losses and injuries. The team finished with a record of 4-8, but they had several close games that could have gone either way.
One of the biggest problems for the team was injuries. Three of the team’s best players missed significant time due to injuries, and this really hurt the team’s chances of winning.
Despite the disappointing record, there were some bright spots on the team. The pitching staff was solid, and the team’s defense was very good. If the team can stay healthy next season, they should be able to compete for a playoff spot.
The Championship Years
The Lagrange baseball team was one of the most successful teams in the country in the early 1900s. They won several championships and were a force to be reckoned with on the diamond. Here is a look at the team’s championship years.
The first championship came in 1901, when the team went 22-2 and won the title. The following year, they went 21-3 and won another championship. In 1903, they won their third consecutive title with a record of 19-5.
1904 was a tough year for the team, as they finished with a record of 15-9 and failed to win a fourth consecutive title. However, they rebounded in 1905 and won their fourth championship with a record of 20-4. They won their fifth and final championship in 1906 with a record of 22-2.
After winning five championships in six years, the Lagrange Baseball Team was one of the most successful teams in the country. They will always be remembered as one of the great teams of the early 1900s.

The Fall
In the fall of 2004, the Lagrange baseball team was in shambles. The team had just come off of a disappointing season in which they had finished last in their conference. The players were demoralized and the Coaching Staff was in disarray. The situation was so dire that the school’s athletic director, Scott Stokes, considered disbanding the team entirely.
However, Stokes ultimately decided to give the team one more chance. He hired a new coach, Jim weightman, and tasked him with rebuilding the team from scratch. Weightman accepted the challenge and set to work immediately. He recruited new players, instilled a new sense of discipline in the team, and helped them to gel as a unit.
By the spring of 2005, the fruits of Weightman’s labor were beginning to show. The team had improved dramatically and was poised to make a run at the conference title However, their hopes were dashed when they were unexpectedly disqualified from the playoffs due to an administrative error.
Despite this setback, Weightman continued to work diligently with his team. Finally, in 2006, his efforts paid off as the Lagrange baseball team won their first ever conference championship They continue to be one of the premiere teams in their conference to this day.
