There have been many great Lapoynor high school basketball players over the years. Some have gone on to play in college, and others in the professional ranks. But all of them have one thing in common – they began their careers at Lapoynor high school

He was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2006. Durant went on to play one year of college basketball at the University of Texas before being drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007. He currently plays for the Golden State Warriors and is a four-time NBA All-Star and two-time NBA Finals MVP.
Another great player from Lapoynor is LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge played for Lapoynor from 2001 to 2004, and was a three-time state championship winner. He was named Mr. Basketball in Texas in 2004, and also won a McDonald’s All-American Game MVP Award that same year.
