Barnier was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of high school He made his professional debut that summer with the rookie league Johnson City Cardinals, hitting .290/.325/.443 with two Home Runs and 20 RBIs in 42 games.
The following year, Barnier played for the Class-A Peoria Chiefs, where he hit .271/.321/.394 with six home runs and 50 RBIs in 123 games. He also played for the Cardinals’ Arizona Fall League team after the season.
In 2018, Barnier began the year with the Class-A Advanced Palm Beach Cardinals, hitting .263/.329/.423 with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs in 112 games before being promoted to the Double-A Springfield Cardinals in August. He finished the season with Springfield, hitting .229/.289/.343 with one home run and eight RBIs in 23 games.
Barnier spent the 2019 season back at Springfield, where he hit .228/.319./376 with thirteen home runs and 49 RBIs in 132 games. He was again selected to play in the Arizona Fall League after the season.
Entering 2020, Barnier was ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Cardinals’ #13 prospect. He is currently playing for their Triple-A affiliate, the Memphis Redbirds
