3. Florida – The Gators have a deep pitching staff, led by Brady Singer and Jackson Kowar, who were both drafted in the first round by the Kansas City Royals

4. Auburn – The Tigers are led by Casey Mize, who is widely considered to be the best pitcher in college baseball and is a top candidate for the #1 overall pick in next year’s MLB Draft

5. Texas A&M – The Aggies are led by Corbin Martin, who was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and is a finalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy (given to college baseball’s player of the year).

Key Games

As the season winds down, every game becomes more and more crucial if the Tigers want to make a run at the title. Here are some key games to keep an eye on.

On April 5th, LSU takes on Florida in a three-game series that could very well determine who wins the SEC title. Florida is currently ranked #1 in the nation, but LSU has proved time and time again that they can compete with anyone. This will be a great series to watch.

Another key series is against Arkansas from April 26-28. This is another SEC opponent that will give LSU a good test. Arkansas is always a tough team, and this year is no different. They are currently ranked #6 in the nation, so this will be a great opportunity for LSU to prove themselves against another top team

The final key series of the season is against Texas A&M from May 17-19. This is Texas A&M’s first year in the SEC, so they will be hungry to prove themselves against one of the best teams in the conference. They are currently ranked #10 in the nation, so this will be another great opportunity for LSU to show what they are made of.

RPI

The RPI is a metric used by the NCAA to rank college baseball teams. It stands for Rating Percentage Index, and it’s calculated using a team’s winning percentage, their opponents’ winning percentage, and their opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage. The higher a team’s RPI, the better they are considered to be.

LSU has had a strong RPI in recent years thanks in part to their winning percentage. In 2019, they had an RPI of 6th in the nation. That means that they were one of the top 10 teams in the country according to this metric.
