Mankato West Baseball A Tradition of Excellence
Since its beginning in 1912, Mankato West Baseball has been a tradition of excellence. The program has produced many All-Americans, Major League Baseball players, and even a Hall of Famer. Today, Mankato West Baseball is one of the premier programs in the state of Minnesota. The program has won nine State Championships and has been to the State Tournament 27 times. Mankato West Baseball is a program that is steeped in tradition and history.
The History of Mankato West Baseball
Mankato West baseball has a rich tradition of success, dating back to the early days of the program. In the spring of 1967, the Scarlets won the first ever Big Nine conference championship and followed that up with another title in 1968. Mankato West would go on to win three more conference championships in 1970, 1971, and 1972. The Scarlets also made four trips to the State Tournament in those years, with their best finish coming in 1971 when they finished as runner-up.
In the 1980s, Mankato West baseball continued to be one of the top programs in the state. The Scarlets won conference championships in 1980 and 1982, and made three trips to the state tournament in those years. Mankato West also had a great run in the late 1990s, winning conference championships in 1997 and 1998. The Scarlets made two trips to the state tournament in those years, with their best finish coming in 1998 when they finished as runner-up.
Today, Mankato West Baseball is still one of the top programs in Minnesota. The Scarlets have won four conference championships in the last decade, and have made six trips to the state tournament Mankato West has also won two state championships in that time, with their most recent title coming in 2013.

Since the team was founded in the early 1900s, they have won numerous championships and produced many Great players The team is known for their strong pitching staff and their aggressive hitting. They have a loyal fan base and are always competitive. In recent years the team has been especially successful, winning the state championship in 2013 and 2016. For over 50 years, the Mankato West baseball team has been a force to be reckoned with in Minnesota high school baseball. With a record of 29-3, the team is currently ranked #1 in the state. The team’s success is due in large part to its strong tradition of excellence.
Mankato West has won 9 State Championships more than any other high school in Minnesota. The team has also been nationally ranked on several occasions, most recently in 2016 when it was ranked #7 in the country by MaxPreps.
The team’s success is built on a foundation of hard work and dedication. The Mankato West Baseball Program is one of the most competitive in the state, and its players are some of the most skilled and talented athletes in the country.

The Mankato West Baseball Team is a tradition of excellence. The team has a rich history dating back to the early 1950s, when they were founded as an American Legion Baseball team Since then, they have won numerous championships and titles, including the Minnesota state championship in 1959 and 1960. The team has also been honored with inductions into the Mankato West Hall of Fame and the Minnesota baseball Hall of Fame
The Mankato West Baseball Coaches
For the past 25 years, the Mankato West baseball team has been coached by a husband and wife team, Dave and Connie Johnson. Under their guidance, the team has won 3 State Championships and 4 conference championships. The couple has also been named “Coach of the Year” 4 times.
The Johnsons credit their success to their love of the game and their dedication to their players. They believe that each player has the potential to be a great ballplayer, and they work hard to help them reach their full potential.
The Johnsons are passionate about teaching the Game of Baseball and instilling a love for the sport in their players. They believe that baseball is more than just a game, it’s a way of life.

Mankato West Baseball is a tradition of excellence dating back over 50 years. The community of Mankato West baseball is one of the most supportive and passionate in the state of Minnesota. From the stands, to the dugouts, to the locker rooms Mankato West baseball is a family.
The support of the community has been evident throughout the years with constant sellout crowds at Franklin Rogers Park. The energy and excitement that surrounds Mankato West baseball is electric. The Mankato West Baseball Board along with Head Coach Scott Lunning, have worked tirelessly to provide a first-class experience for all who enter Franklin Rogers Park.
Mankato West baseball has a rich history of success on the field. TheScarlets havewon 11 conference championships, five sectional championships, and two state championships (1989 & 1991). In addition to on-field success, Mankato West has also produced 28 Academic All-State players and four Mr. Baseball Award winners.
