How the team is shaping up

The 2020 baseball season is still a ways off, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start thinking about how the team is shaping up. With spring training just around the corner, here’s a look at the Mars Hill baseball roster for the 2020 season.

Team strengths

The 2020 Mars Hill baseball team will be a force to reckoned with this season. The team has several players that have the potential to be all-conference players. The starting pitching staff is filled with experienced pitchers that have good command of their pitches. The bullpen also has several players that can come in and get the job done in late innings. offensively, the team is led by senior outfielder Brock Bowers. Bowers is a four-year starter that hit .333 last season with 19 stolen bases The team also has good power in the middle of the lineup with both junior infielder Matt Leonard and senior catcher Jordan Tamplin being able to hit for both average and power. The team will look to make a run at an conference title this season.

Keys to success in 2020

The 2020 baseball season will be pivotal for the Mars Hill program. The team has lost significant talent to graduation and will be relying on some new players to step up and fill those roles. Additionally, the team has moved to a new conference and will be facing some tough competition. Despite all of these challenges, the Coaching Staff is confident that the team can be successful in 2020. Here are a few keys to success for the team this season:

-Pitching: The team will need its pitchers to perform at a high level this season. They will need to eat up innings and keep the team in games. Additionally, they will need to show improvement from last season in order to give the team a chance to win.
-Batting: The batting lineup will need to produce runs this season. They will need to be patient at the plate and work counts in order to score runs Additionally, they will need to hit for power and drive in runs when runners are in scoring position.
-Fielding: The team’s defense will need to be solid this season. They will need to make routine plays and limit errors in order to give the pitching staff a chance to succeed.

If the team can focus on these key areas, they should have a successful 2020 season.

Expectations for the season

The 2020 Mars Hill baseball roster looks quite a bit different than it did last year. With only six returning players, the team will be relying heavily on eleven new faces to step up and contribute right away. Coach Josh Nichols will also be looking for leadership from his three seniors: first baseman Dylan Harris, catcher Zach Dotson, and pitcher Nick Johnson The Lions will open their season on February 1st with a three-game series against Carson-Newman.
