Marvin Williams is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted with the second overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks becoming the youngest player in NBA history to be drafted within the top two picks. He has also played for the Utah Jazz Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics
Williams was born in Bremerton, Washington, and raised in Seattle, Washington. He played college basketball for one year at the University of North Carolina before declaring himself eligible for the NBA Draft As a rookie with the Hawks, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Early Life and Career
Marvin Williams was born on June 19, 1986, in Bremerton, Washington. Williams began his love affair with basketball at an early age, often playing against much older opponents. In High School he helped his team to a state championship and was named Mr. Basketball in Washington State
After high school Williams opted to forgo college and entered the 2005 NBA Draft He was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the second overall pick. In his rookie season, Williams averaged 10 points and 4.8 rebounds per game The following year, his numbers improved to 15 points and 6 rebounds per contest.
In 2007, Williams was traded to the Charlotte Hornets (then known as the New Orleans Hornets) in a deal that saw him join Low NBA star Emeka Okafor on the front line. Williams has been a key member of the Hornets ever since, averaging double figures in points and rebounds in each of his first six seasons with the team.
