Matt Chamberlain was born on October 17, 1974, in Seattle, Washington. He grew up playing baseball and basketball in the Seattle area. His father, Dave, was a high school baseball coach and his mother, Barbara, was a homemaker. He has two older brothers, Tim and Mark.

Chamberlain attended college at the University of Washington where he played baseball for the Huskies. He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1996 Major League Baseball Draft.

High school career

Chamberlain began his High School career at Midlothian high school As a freshman, he played on the varsity baseball team The next year, he transferred to Mansfield Legacy high school As a sophomore, he was a member of the varsity baseball team that won the state championship

He played college baseball at Grayson College and then transferred to the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the Sooners’ 2004 College World Series team.

College career

Chamberlain began his college career at the University of Texas, where he played for the Longhorns from 1999 to 2002. Chamberlain was a member of the Longhorns team that won the College World Series in 2000, and he was named a First Team All-American by Baseball America in 2001. After his junior year, Chamberlain was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round (26th overall) of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft.

Professional career

Matt Chamberlain was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the second round of the 2001 MLB Draft He made his Major League debut with the Brewers in 2003, appearing in four games. He was traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2004 and spent most of the season in the Minor Leagues. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs in 2005 and spent the majority of the season with their Triple-A affiliate. In 2006, he became a free agent and signed with the Texas Rangers He has spent his entire career with the Rangers, appearing in two World Series with them (2010 and 2011).

In high school he played for theFalmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod baseball league He was drafted out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the 2006 MLB draft but opted to play college baseball for Wake Forest University instead.

After 5 seasons in Tampa Bay he became a free agent and signed with the Chicago Cubs Chamberlain made his Major League debut with the Cubs in 2017 and has been a key piece of their bullpen ever since.
