The latest on Michigan’s recruiting class

Michigan’s recruiting class is ranked No. 1 in the nation by ESPN and the Wolverines have the top-ranked player in the class in center Hunter Dickinson

The 6-foot-11, 250-pound Dickinson is a five-star recruit and the No. 2 player in the ESPN 100. He committed to Michigan in June 2019 and has been a key part of the Wolverines’ Recruiting Class

Dickinson is joined by four-star guard Frankie Collins and three-star forwards Jace Howard and Andre Gordon in Michigan’s 2020 recruiting class The Wolverines also have a commit from five-star guard Tyson Chandler in 2021.

Updates on top recruits

Every year, top recruits around the country make their decision on which college they will attend. For Michigan Basketball Head Coach Juwan Howard and his staff are in charge of recruiting the best players in order to build a contending team. The 2021 recruiting class is no different, as Howard has already landed 5-star small forward JoshChristopher and 4-star Power Forward Jace Howard.

The latest update on the recruitment of 5-star point guardAJ Green is that he will be visiting Michigan on September 27th. Green is one of the top recruits in the nation and his visit to Ann Arbor will be a big opportunity for Juwan Howard to make his case. Other schools in the mix for Green include Duke, Kentucky, and North Carolina

4-star shooting guard Kamari Suggs is another recruit that Michigan is involved with. Suggs recently named Michigan as one of his five finalists, along with Florida State Marquette, UCLA, and Virginia Commonwealth. A decision from Suggs is expected sometime in October.

Michigan’s recruiting strategy

Since John Beilein took over as Michigan’s head coach in 2007, the Wolverines have recruited at a high level. They’ve had success with in-state recruits, like Derrick Walton Jr., Moe Wagner and Ignas Brazdeikis, as well as national recruits, like Trey Burke, Nik Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III

Beilein and his staff have done an excellent job of identifying talent and getting players to buy into their system. They’ve also been creative in the way they’ve approached recruiting, using social media and creative marketing to reach potential recruits.

The Wolverines are currently ranked No. 6 in the 2020 ESPN recruiting class rankings. They have two five-Star Prospects in the class: point guard Eli Brooks and shooting guard Frankie Collins. They also have four-star prospects in small forward Julian Reed and power forward Terrance Williams.

The Michigan recruiting team

The Michigan recruiting team is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation, according to 247Sports. The team is led by Head Coach Juwan Howard and Assistant Coach Saddi Washington. Michigan has already landed five-star recruits in guard Josh Christopher and center Hunter Dickinson The team is also in the mix for top recruits such as guard Trayce Jackson Davis, forward Matthew Hurt and center N’Faly Dante.

The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team has received verbal commitments from four players in the class of 2020.

The latest commits are:

-Zeb Jackson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Pickerington, Ohio. Jackson is ranked as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and is considered the No. 55 player in the nation. He chose Michigan over offers from Ohio State Purdue and Iowa.

-Julius Marble, a 6-foot-9 forward from Southfield, Mich. Marble is ranked as a three-star recruit by 247Sports and is considered the No. 347 player in the nation. He chose Michigan over offers from Marquette, Penn State and Iowa State

--Franz Wagner a 6-foot-7 forward from Berlin, Germany. Wagner is considered one of the top international prospects in the class of 2020 and is ranked as a five-star recruit by 247Sports. He chose Michigan over offers from Florida, Maryland and UCLA.

--Isaiah Todd a 6-foot-10 forward from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. Todd is ranked as a five-star recruit by 247Sports and is considered the No. 11 player in the nation. He chose Michigan over offers from Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina

The top uncommitted prospects

There are still a number of talented players on the board for Michigan basketball as the recruitment season winds down. To get you caught up on the latest, here’s a look at the top uncommitted prospects:

Five-star forward Matthew Hurt is probably the best player left on the board and Michigan is one of the schools still in contention for his services. The 6-foot-9 prospect from Minnesota is considering Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and Louisville, among others.

Another target is five-star point guard Tyrese Maxey who is down to Kentucky, Michigan State Oklahoma and Texas. The 6-foot-3 Maxey is considered one of the best scorers in the class.

Four-star small forward Wendell Moore is also considering Michigan. The 6-foot-7 Moore is down to a final five of Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina NC State and Ohio State

Four-star power forward Isaiah Stewart is another name to keep an eye on. The 6-foot-9 Stewart has cut his list to Georgetown, Louisville, Michigan State Syracuse and Washington.

Walker is a 6’8” power forward from Aurora, Colorado who is ranked as the No. 14 player in the nation by 247Sports. He chose Michigan over Duke, Kentucky, and North Carolina

Brooks Jr. is a 6’4” shooting guard from Detroit, Michigan who is ranked as the No. 33 player in the nation by 247Sports. He chose Michigan over Arkansas, Iowa State and Marquette.
