The Mississippi State baseball team has announced their 2019 roster. The team will be composed of 27 players, including 15 pitchers and 12 Position players The pitching staff will be led by starters Ethan Small, JT Ginn, and Konnor Pilkington, who will all be looking to build on their successful 2018 campaigns. The bullpen will feature a mix of experienced arms and young talent, including closer Will Bednar. The position player group is highlighted by preseason All-Americans Jake Mangum and Elijah MacNamee, as well as rising star Bryce Jordan.

2019 Season

Mississippi State Baseball has announced its 2019 roster, which includes 26 freshmen and 21 returners from last season.

Headlining the returners are pitchers Will Bednar (9-4, 2.84 ERA in 2018) and Keven Pimentel (4-3, 2.68 ERA in 2018), who will look to lead a strong pitching staff once again this season. The Bulldogs also return position players Luke Alexander (6 HR, .257 AVG in 2018), Hunter Stovall (9 HR, .261 AVG in 2018), and Jake Mangum (SEC-best .408 AVG in 2018), who will look to anchor the offense.

The 2019 Mississippi State baseball roster is now available online, as the team has announced its full list of players. The Bulldogs will have 34 roster spots this season, with 27 being filled by returning players and seven by newcomers.

The roster includes 14 pitchers, six infielders, five outfielders, and nine utility/outfielders. Of the 27 returners, 19 are upperclassmen while eight are freshmen or sophomores. Among the newcomers are seven freshmen and one transfer who have all enrolled in classes at MSU this spring.

Roster Subtractions

The Mississippi State baseball team has announced their 2019 roster, which includes a few notable subtractions from last year’s team.

Schedule

The Mississippi State Baseball Team released its 2019 schedule Wednesday. The Bulldogs will open the season Feb. 15 against Eastern Illinois at Dudy Noble Field

MSU will play 33 home games and 30 road/neutral site contests this season. The Bulldogs’ home slate includes games against Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

The SEC tournament will be held May 21-26 at the Hoover Met in Hoover, Alabama. The NCAA tournament will begin June 1 with regionals.

Outlook

The Mississippi State Baseball team announced its 2019 roster on Tuesday morning. The Bulldogs will look to build on their success from last season, when they won the SEC regular season title and made it to the College World Series

The 2019 team will have a mix of experience and youth, with 14 players who have been in the program for two or more years and 13 who are in their first or second year.

The pitching staff will be led by seniors Will Bednar and Cole Gordon, who were both All-SEC performers last season. Bednar was also named SEC Pitcher of the Year. The Bulldogs will also have junior transfer JT Ginn, who was ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation by Baseball America coming into this season.

In the infield, Mississippi State will have senior Jake Mangum at shortstop and junior Justin Foscue at second base. Both players were All-SEC performers last season and are considered to be among the best defenders in the country. The Bulldogs will also have a new face at third base in freshman Jarrian Jones.

In the outfield, Mississippi State will have junior Elijah MacNamee in left field senior Jake Magnum in center field, and junior Rowdey Jordan in right field. MacNamee is coming off a breakout 2018 campaign in which he hit .315 with 19 home runs and was named SEC Co-Player of the Year. Jordan is also a returning starter from last season, while Magnum will be taking over for departed senior Brent Rooker.
