Contents
With the 2021 NBA draft just around the corner, it’s time to start looking ahead to next year’s class. Here’s a Mock Draft of the top prospects in the 2022 NBA Draft
Zion Williamson
There is no doubt that Zion Williamson is the best player in the class of 2019. The 6’7″, 285-pound forward from Duke is a physical specimen who has drawn comparisons to Lebron James Williamson is an elite athlete who can run and jump with the best of them, and he also has a developed skill set for a player his age. He can score inside and out, he’s a good rebounder, and he’s an improving passer. Williamson is the total package, and he looks like a future star in the NBA.
Ja Morant
With the 2019-20 NBA season on hold, fans and analysts have turned their attention to next year’s draft. While the class isn’t loaded with top-end talent, there are a few potential All-Stars, including Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant.
The 6’3″ Morant was electric in his sophomore season, averaging 24.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from three-point range He was especially good down the stretch, averaging 27.6 points, 8.0 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game in 12 games after the all-star break
Morant is a gifted scorer who can get his shot off against anyone, but he’s also an elite playmaker with great vision and court awareness. He has a chance to be a special player in the league for a long time, and he should be a high lottery pick in next year’s draft.
RJ Barrett
In the mock 2022 NBA Draft RJ Barrett is projected to be the first pick overall. Barrett, who plays for the Duke Blue Devils is a 6’7″ small forward He is considered one of the best players in his class and has drawn comparisons to Lebron James
Coby White
Coby White is a projected lottery pick in the 2022 NBA draft The 6-foot-5 guard is a freshman at North Carolina and is averaging 16.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game He’s shooting 39 percent from three-point range and 87 percent from the Free Throw Line
Darius Garland
Darius Garland, a 6-foot-2 point guard from Vanderbilt, is one of the top prospects in the upcoming NBA draft A talented scorer and playmaker, Garland is expected to be a top-five pick in the draft. Here’s a look at where he could land in the 2022 NBA Mock Draft
De’Andre Hunter
With the 2019-20 college Basketball season complete, it’s time to start thinking about next year’s NBA Draft And while it’s still very early in the process, there are a few players who have already separated themselves as potential Top Picks
One of those players is De’Andre Hunter, a 6’7″ forward from the University of Virginia Hunter was one of the best players in college basketball this past season, averaging 15.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 52.0% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range. He was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year and helped lead Virginia to a National Championship
With his combination of size, shooting, and defensive ability, Hunter projects as a Do-It-All wing at the next level who should be able to step in and contribute right away. He looks like a potential top-five pick in next year’s draft, and some mock drafts have him going as high as No. 2 overall (behind only Anthony Edwards).
Nassir Little
Nassir Little is a 6’6” small forward out of UNC. He was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of High School and many thought he would be a one-and-done player. Little has good size and length for a small forward and he is an above-average athlete. He is a good shooter, especially from three-point range, and he has the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Little is also a very good rebounder for his position. He has decent vision and passing ability, but he is not much of a playmaker for others. Defensively, he has the potential to be very good. He has the size, length, and athleticism to guard multiple positions. He is also a willing defender and has shown the ability to block shots
At UNC, Little started 29 games as a freshman and averaged 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1 block per game while shooting 48% from the field and 37% from three-point range. He struggled at times with consistency offensively, but he showed flashes of being a very good player Defensively, he was often asked to guard the other team’s best player and did a good job. Little did not shoot well from the free throw line ( just 58%), which is something that will need to improve if he wants to be an effective scorer at the next level.
Overall, Little is a talented player who has a lot of potential. He needs to improve his consistency on both ends of the floor, but he has all of the tools to be a very good player in the NBA one day. It will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft and how he develops over his career.
Sekou Doumbouya
Sekou Doumbouya is a 6’9″ small forward/Power Forward from Guineau. He currently plays for the Detroit Pistons of the NBA. He was drafted 15th overall by the Pistons in the 2019 NBA Draft
Doumbouya was born in Conakry, Guinea, and moved to France at age 8. He played Professional Basketball in France for Limoges CSP and Poitiers Basket 86, before being drafted by the Pistons.
In his sophomore season with the Pistons, Doumbouya averaged 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 35.6% from the field and 32% from three-point range.
Bol Bol
Bol Bol is a 7-foot-2 center who played college basketball for the University of Oregon He was considered a top NBA Draft prospect prior to suffering a season-ending foot injury in December 2018. Bol averaged 21.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game in nine appearances for Oregon before the injury. He is the son of former NBA player Manute Bol
Rui Hachimura
mock drafts are always fun and interesting to see, and they are a great way to pass the time while we wait for the real thing. The 2022 NBA draft is still a ways away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start speculating about who will go where. In this mock draft we will take a look at some of the top prospects and see where they might end up.
Rui Hachimura is one of the top prospects in the draft and has a chance to be a high lottery pick. He is an athletic forward who can score inside and out. Hachimura has good size and strength and is also a good rebounder. He needs to work on his defense, but he has all the tools to be a very good player at the next level.
