The team is led by coach Steve Brown, who has been at the helm of the program for over 20 years. Under his guidance, the team has won five National Championships and six conference titles. He has also been named NJCAA Division II Coach of the Year three times.

The Team

The Mott Community College (MCC) baseball team is a JUCO team to watch this season. The team is coming off of a 37-win season in which they made it to the NJCAA Division II World Series They have a strong core of returners and have added some quality newcomers that should help them take another step forward this season.

The Team
MCC is led by a experienced group of returners that includes infielders Jake Peplinski and Jordan Swiss, outfielders Brad Schalk and Tanner Murphy, and pitchers Kyle Ziegler and Dylan Tremble. These six players were key contributors to last year’s team and will be looked upon to lead the way again in 2018.

The addition of transfer players Elisubmit de la Rosa, Joey Merlo, and Bryce Jeffcoat should also help bolster the lineup. de la Rosa is an outfielder who comes to MCC from Lincoln Land Community College where he hit .333 with 7 home runs last season. Merlo is an infielder who comes to MCC from Heartland Community College where he hit .326 with 5 home runs last season. Jeffcoat is a pitcher who comes to MCC from South Mountain Community College where he posted a 2.65 ERA in 17 appearances last season.

The Schedule

The Mott Community College baseball team is set to have an exciting season. Their conference opponents this year include St. Clair County Community College Oakland Community College and Macomb Community College They will also be playing some non-conference games against Delta College, Henry Ford College, and Ancilla College. Some of their key returning players include pitcher Cole Daniel and infielder Hassan Timms. The team’s new Head Coach Steve Spring, is very excited about the upcoming season

The Venue

MCC Baseball is played at Merritt Field, located on the college’s main campus in Flint, Michigan. The facility underwent a $1.5 million renovation in 2012 that included the installation of an artificial Turf Field and state-of-the-art lighting. The field is also equipped with a press box, concession stand and bleacher seating for 500 spectators.
