Dogs Baseball a brief history

The Muddogs are a minor League Baseball team that plays in the South Atlantic League The team is based in Greensboro, North Carolina and its home ballpark is Grimsley High School

The Muddogs began play in 1987 as the Greensboro Hornets. The Hornets were affiliated with the Chicago White Sox from 1987 to 1989, and then the New York Yankees from 1990 to 1992. In 1993, the Hornets became affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles and they remained so until 2002.

In 2003, the team was renamed the Greensboro Bats. The Bats were affiliated with the Cincinnati Reds from 2003 to 2004, and then the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2005 to 2006.

In 2007, the team reverted back to its original name, the Greensboro Hornets. The Hornets wereaffiliated with the Atlanta Braves from 2007 to 2008 and then affiliation changed again in 2009 when they became apart of Houston Astros organization where they play today.
