2019 ACC Baseball Roster
The North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) baseball team has announced its 2019 roster. The roster is made up of 18 players, including 11 freshmen and seven sophomores.
The squad features two local products in sophomore pitcher Austin Sommers (Clear Lake) and freshman catcher Carter Arends (Mason City).
The team will be led by first-year Head Coach Colin Gruening. Gruening takes over the program after serving as an Assistant Coach at DMACC for the past two seasons.
“We are really excited about the group of young men we have assembled for the 2019 season,” Gruening said. “We have a great mix of freshman and sophomores that we believe will be able to compete at a high level.”
New Additions to the 2019 Roster
Welcome to the 2019 baseball season! We’ve got some great new additions to the roster this year, and we’re excited to see what they can do on the field. Get to know a little bit about our new players below.
Jake L : Infielder
Jake is a freshman from Webster City, Iowa. He played both infield and pitching in High School and was named first team all-conference his senior year. He’s a versatile player who will be a great asset to the team.
Derek M: Outfielder
Derek is a freshman from Forest City, Iowa. He was a four-year starter in high school and was named first team all-conference three times. He’s an excellent hitter with a great arm, and we’re excited to see what he can do in the outfield this year.
Tyler S: Pitcher
Tyler is a sophomore from Mason City, Iowa. He transferred to NIACC this year after pitching for two years at Iowa Central Community College He’s a left-handed pitcher with a great slider, and we’re looking forward to seeing him on the mound this season.

2019 ACC Baseball Schedule
The North Iowa Area Community college baseball team will open its 2019 season on Saturday, Feb. 9, when the Trojans host Ancilla College in a doubleheader at Mason City’s Roosevelt Field.
NIACC’s home opener is part of a nine-game homestand to begin the season. The Trojans will also host Northland CTC, Iowa Lakes CC, Southeastern CC, Kirkwood CC and Northeast CC during the homestand.
NIACC will play 34 games in 2019 – 17 at home and 17 on the road. The Trojans’ schedule features four games against NJCAA Division I foes (DMACC, Kirkwood CC and Iowa Western CC) and two games against NJCAA Division II foes (Northeast CC and Southeast CC).
2019 ACC Baseball Preview
It’s almost time for baseball season and that means it’s time to meet your 2019 Acc Baseball team! This year’s squad is loaded with talent, and we can’t wait to see what they can do on the diamond. Here’s a quick preview of the team.
The Pitchers
This year’s pitching staff is led by returning ace Jesse Scholtens. Scholtens was a key part of the team’s success last year, and he’ll be looking to build on that in 2019. He’ll be joined by a talented group of pitchers, including Ryan Rumpf, Dylan Friend, and Kyle Jerke.
The Infielders
The infield will be anchored by third baseman Max Vogel, who is coming off a solid 2018 campaign. Vogel will be joined by fellow third baseman Braden Johnson and first baseman Connor Lemke. The middle of the infield will be manned by second basemen Alec hillman and Jayden Moua, and shortstop Brady Stover rounds out the group.
The Outfielders
The outfield is where this team really shines. Leading the way is center fielder Tyler Chiappazzo, who is one of the best Defensive Players in the conference. Chiappazzo will be flanked by a pair of talented young outfielders in Luke Anderson and Nick Miller. Rounding out the group is Left fielder Connor Crabtree.
How the 2019 Niacc Baseball Team Was Built
Head baseball coach Troy Barrentine has announced his 2019 roster that will look to defend the program’s first NJCAA World Series title.
“We are extremely excited about the 2019 roster,” said Barrentine, who is entering his 16th season at the helm of the program. “We have a good mix of returners and newcomers that we feel can help us compete for another conference and regional championship.”

As the 2019 baseball season rapidly approaches, head coach Jake Stirling and his staff have finalized their roster.
“We are really excited about this group,” Stirling said. “We have a good mix of veterans and newcomers that we think will help us compete for a conference title ”
The Trojans will have 27 student-athletes on this year’s roster, including 18 freshmen and nine sophomores.
“One of our goals every year is to get better every day,” Stirling said. “We are looking forward to seeing how this group comes together and improves throughout the season.”
2019 ACC Baseball Position Battles
The 2019 season is just around the corner, and the NIACC baseball team is ramping up its preparations. The Trojans will look to build on a 2018 campaign that saw them win 33 games and make an appearance in the NJCAA Division III World Series
As they get ready for the new season, there are still some position battles that need to be sorted out. Here is a look at three of the most important battles that will be taking place during spring training

2019 Niacc baseball team Captains
The NCCC Baseball Team is excited to reveal its captains for the 2019 season! Leading the team this year are returning players Casey Eckert and Ryan Dufoe.
Casey Eckert, a senior pitcher, has been with the NCCC baseball program for all four years of his college career. Ryan Dufoe, a junior infielder, is entering his third season with the team.
Both Casey and Ryan are proven leaders both on and off the field, and they are committed to helping the team have a successful 2019 season. We wish them all the best!
2019 ACC Baseball Outlook
The 2019 NIACC Baseball team will have a chance to build on the success of last season when it finished 33-16 overall and made its 23rd trip to the NJCAA Division II World Series
Head coach Travis Hergert, who is entering his 16th season at NIACC, will have a 34-player roster that includes 28 freshmen and six sophomores.
“We are excited about the incoming class and we think they will be able to contribute right away,” Hergert said. “We think this is a group that has a chance to do some special things.”
