Analysis

Ole Miss baseball is one of the hottest programs in the country. Here’s a quick analysis of the team as they head into the 2019 season.

The Ole Miss Rebels are coming off a 2018 campaign that saw them make it all the way to the College World Series They’ll be looking to build on that success in 2019, and with a strong nucleus of talent returning, they should be in contention for another deep postseason run.

Leading the way for Ole Miss will be pitcher Ryan Rolison, who was drafted in the first round by the Colorado Rockies last year. Rolison is a potential ace and will anchor a pitching staff that also features fellow left-handers Doug Nikhazy and Gunnar Hoglund. The Rebels will also have right-hander Will Ethridge back after he missed most of last season due to injury.

Offensively, Ole Miss will be led by first baseman/outfielder Thomas Dillard who is one of the best power hitters in college baseball Dillard slugged 18 home runs last season and should be in for another big year in 2019. The Rebels will also have catcher Hayden Dunhurst back after he missed much of last season due to injury. Dunhurst is a solid hitter and gives Ole Miss an experienced presence behind the plate.

Ole Miss will have some holes to fill due to graduation and early departures to professional baseball but they have the talent to once again compete for a spot in Omaha.
