Over 38 Baseball is the Premier League for mature players aged 38 and over. We provide an opportunity for these players to compete at the highest level and to continue doing what they love long after most people have retired from the sport.

We currently have 12 teams competing in our league, based in cities across the United States Each team consists of 25 players, all of whom must be aged 38 or over.

The History of Over 38 Baseball

commonly referred to as “The Premier League for Mature Players”, was founded in Sydney in 1992.
The establishment of baseball teams comprising players aged 38 and over followed the pattern of other mature age
sports clubs which had begun to spring up around Sydney at that time.
These included the 40-and-Over Basketball Association which was established in 1988, and Over 35 Soccer.

The Rules of Over 38 Baseball

Over 38 Baseball is a sport created for mature players that puts an emphasis on player safety and fun. The rules are designed to give all players a chance to participate and contribute to the game, regardless of their skill level. Here are some of the key rules of Over 38 Baseball:

-All players must be at least 38 years old.
-Teams can have a maximum of 16 players, with a minimum of 11.
-The game is played on a regulation-sized baseball diamond with the bases 90 feet apart.
-Pitching distances are increased to 80 feet, and there is no limit to the number of balls that can be thrown in an at-bat.
-Batters can use aluminum or Wooden bats but composite bats are not allowed.
-There is no designated hitter in Over 38 Baseball.
-Each team gets three outs per innings, and the game is nine innings long.
-If the score is tied after nine innings, the game goes into Extra Innings until one team has more runs than the other after inning ten.

The Format of Over 38 Baseball

Over 38 baseball is a wooden bat league that play nine innings per game. The league is made up of ten teams all of which are located in the Greater Toronto Area Each team plays eighteen regular season games, with nine games being played at home and nine on the road. The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the playoffs.

The playoffs are a best-of-three series, with the first and second seed getting a bye to the semifinals. The semifinals and finals are also best-of-three series. The team with the best record at the end of the playoffs is declared the champion.
