Looking back at the history of Penn State basketball, there have been some truly amazing players who have graced the court. Today, we’re taking a look at the top scorers in the program’s history. From all-time greats like Talor Battle and Tim Frazier to current stars like Tony Carr and Lamar Stevens, these are the Nittany Lions who have racked up the most points.

Trey Lewis

Trey Lewis is the All-time leading scorer in Penn State Basketball History He played for the Nittany Lions from 2013 to 2017 and is currently the Head Coach at Duquesne University. Lewis scored 2,657 points in his career, which is the most in Penn State history. He also holds the record for most points in a single season, with 854 points scored in the 2016-2017 season.

D.J. Newbill

D.J. Newbill is the current leading scorer in Penn State men’s Basketball History He racked up 2,372 points during his four years with the Nittany Lions from 2011 to 2015.

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Newbill was a highly touted recruit coming out of High School He initially committed to play for the University of Pittsburgh but later changed his mind and decided to stay close to home by enrolling at Penn State

Newbill quickly made an impact on the program, starting all 33 games as a freshman and averaging 15.5 points per game He would go on to have a stellar career with the Nittany Lions becoming the first player in program history to earn First Team All-Big Ten honors in back-to-back seasons (2014 and 2015).

After graduating from Penn State Newbill went on to have a successful professional career overseas. He currently plays for Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia.

Shep Garner

Shep Garner, a 6’2″ guard from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is the all-time leading scorer in Penn State men’s basketball history Garner led the Nittany Lions in scoring for three consecutive seasons and currently ranks fourth in Penn State history with 1,818 career points.

Josh Reaves

Josh Reaves is the all time leading scorer in Penn State basketball history. He scored 2,207 points in his career, which spanned four seasons from 2015 to 2019. Reaves is a 6’4″ guard from Fairfax, Virginia. He was a key member of Penn State’s 2018-19 team that won the Big Ten regular season championship and made its first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 11 years.

Lamar Stevens

Lamar Stevens is a name that will go down in Penn State history. The 6-foot-8 forward from Erie, Pennsylvania, recently wrapped up his collegiate career as the Nittany Lions’ all-time leading scorer with 2,642 points. Stevens also leaves Penn State as the program’s leader in games played (149), starts (133) and minutes played (4,731).

Tony Carr

Tony Carr (born March 20, 1998) is an American college basketball player for the Penn State Nittany Lions of the Big Ten Conference He played high school basketball for Roman Catholic high school in Philadelphia. As a junior, he was named the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year. As a senior, he averaged 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game leading Roman Catholic to a 29-3 record and the Class 6A state championship

Mike Watkins

As of the end of the 2018-2019 season, Mike Watkins is the all time leading scorer in Penn State Basketball history. He’s a 6’9″ center who played for Penn State from 2016 to 2019. In his senior year, he averaged 14.6 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game He finishes his career with 1,901 points, which is 300 more than the second leading scorer in Penn State history.

Rasir Bolton

Rasir Bolton, a 6-foot-3-inch freshman guard from Los Angeles California, is currently the leading scorer in Penn State men’s basketball history He is averaging 20.3 points per game through his first season with the Nittany Lions. Bolton has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and has had 20 or more points in nine of his last ten games.

Bolton has been a big part of Penn State’s success this season, as they have a current record of 21-5 and are ranked sixth in the nation. He is hopeful that he can continue to lead the team to success in the upcoming NCAA Tournament

Myreon Jones

Myreon Jones is the all-time leading scorer in Penn State basketball history. He surpassed Lamont Wade’s previous record of 2,097 points with a layup in the Nittany Lions’ win over Illinois on February 27, 2021.

Jones, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, played four seasons at Penn State after redshirting his freshman year. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and helped lead the Nittany Lions to the NCAA tournament in 2020 and 2021.

In his senior season, Jones averaged 19.1 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game He finishes his career with 2,138 points, which is good for fourth all-time in Penn State history.

Izaiah Brockington

Izaiah Brockington is a guard for the Penn State Nittany Lions. He attended Abington Friends School in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, and played his collegiate career for Penn State Izaiah is the all-time leading scorer in Penn State basketball history with 2,347 points. He is also the all-time leading free throw shooter in Penn State history, with a shooting percentage of 86.8%.
