The season runs from April 9th to September 2nd, with 70 regular home games Games are typically Monday-Thursday at 6:30 pm, Friday at 6:30 pm, Saturday at 5:00 pm, and Sunday at 2:00 pm but be sure to check the schedule for specific dates and times as there are many promotional nights with different start times throughout the season.

The Pensacola Baseball franchise began in 1989 as an expansion team in the Senior professional baseball Association. In 1992, the team joined the Sunshine State baseball league and became known as the Pensacola Sun Sox. The team won the League Championship in its first season. In 1993, the Sun Sox again won the League Championship and also won the Junior World Series

In 1994, the Sun Sox became charter members of the Southern League, a AA Minor League and were renamed the Pensacola Pelicans. The Pelicans won the Southern League Championship in their inaugural season.
