Petersburg basketball is a community-based Basketball team in the city of Petersburg, Virginia. The team is made up of local players who have a passion for the game and a desire to compete at a high level. The team competes in the Virginia Basketball Association (VBA) and is currently in its second season.

The team is led by Head Coach Alex Perez, who has been with the team since its inception. Coach Perez played Division I college basketball at George Mason University and has extensive experience coaching at the AAU and High School levels. He is joined on the Coaching Staff by assistant coaches Rodney Johnson and Brandon Reese.

The team plays its home games at Petersburg high school where it has access to a fully-equipped gymnasium with a capacity of 1,000 spectators. The team also practices at the school on a regular basis.

Petersburg basketball is committed to providing a positive experience for all involved, including players, coaches, parents, and fans. The team relies on the support of the community to help make this possible.

As of December 2018, the team has an overall record of 11-5, and a conference record of 2-1.

Petersburg High School’s Basketball Program has been successful in recent years winning conference championships and making deep runs in the State Tournament But it’s the team’s coaches who have been the biggest reason for the program’s success.

Petersburg has had two head coaches in the last four years, both of whom have helped turn the team into a contender. Jason Harris, who coached the team from 2014 to 2016, led Petersburg to its first conference championship in 20 years. He also helped the team make back-to-back appearances in the State Tournament something that had never been done in school history.

When Harris left for a job at a nearby school, many thought that Petersburg’s Basketball Program would take a Step Back But that didn’t happen, thanks to current head coach Kevin Jackson. In his first season at Petersburg, Jackson led the team to another Conference Championship and another appearance in the state tournament

What makes Petersburg’s coaches so successful? It starts with their dedication to their players. Both Harris and Jackson have made it a priority to get to know their players well, not just as basketball players but as people. They want their players to be successful not just on the court but in life, and they do everything they can to help them reach their potential.

It’s this dedication that has made Petersburg’s Basketball Program one of the best in the state. And as long as Harris and Jackson are leading the way, there’s no reason to think that won’t continue.
