Vanderbilt baseball is one of the nation’s premier Collegiate Baseball programs. Headquartered at Hawkins Field on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, the Commodores have won nine SEC regular season championships and nine SEC tournament championships. Why they’re here? The Beavers are coming off their second consecutive 56-win season and their third straight Pac-12 title. They have one of the nation’s top pitching staffs, led by junior righthander Jake Thompson, who was a second-team All-American last season. The Beavers also have one of the nation’s best players in sophomore catcher Adley Rutschman, who hit .408/.505/.628 with eight home runs last season.
Florida Gators
The Florida Gators baseball team represents the University of Florida in the sport of college baseball Florida competes in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Eastern Division of the Eastern Conference (SEC). They play their home games at Alfred A. McKethan Stadium on the university’s Gainesville, Florida campus, and are currently coached by Kevin O’Sullivan. In a 2013 ranking compiled by perfect game USA, the Gators were ranked as having the nation’s No. 1 college baseball recruiting class for 2012.
Florida has won eleven SEC championships in thirty-seven SEC Tournament appearances. The Gators have also advanced to ten College World Series appearances, winning two national championships in consecutive years (2017 and 2018). The institution played its first season of organized baseball in 1912 and has fielded a team each season since then, with only one interruption during World War II (1943–1945).
