Forwards

This season, the Quinnipiac men’s Hockey Team has 14 forwards on its roster. Here’s a closer look at each of them.

Odeen Tufto is a freshman from Chaska, Minnesota. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round of the 2018 NHL Draft Prior to Quinnipiac, Tufto spent two seasons with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League where he had 87 points in 115 games.

Wyatt Bongiovanni is a freshman from Norwell, Massachusetts. He was a member of USA Hockey’s national team Development Program for two seasons before coming to Quinnipiac. Bongiovanni had 28 points in 55 games with the NTDP U-18 team last season.

Chase Priskie is a junior from Pembroke Pines, Florida. He was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the sixth round of the 2016 NHL Draft Priskie leads all Quinnipiac defenders with 18 points this season.

Brogan Rafferty is a junior from Cohasset, Massachusetts. He was signed by the Vancouver Canucks as an undrafted free agent following his senior season at Quinnipiac in 2018. Rafferty has 15 points in 31 games this season.

Defensemen

The defensemen of the Quinnipiac Hockey Team are: Jamie Arnold (’19), Kevin McKernan (’20), Brogan Rafferty (’21), and Chase Priskie (’21).

Arnold, from Burlington, Ontario, is in his senior year with the Bobcats. He has played in a total of 111 games throughout his college career and has tallied four goals and 27 assists. Arnold was named to the ECAC All-Academic Team in 2017 and 2018.

McKernan, from North Andover Massachusetts, is in his junior year. He has played in 61 games and has recorded two goals and 13 assists. McKernan was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team in 2017.

Rafferty, from Cobden, Ontario, is in his sophomore year. In his freshman season, he played in all 37 games for the Bobcats and recorded five goals and 15 assists. Rafferty was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team and was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2018.

Priskie, from Pembroke Pines, Florida, is also in his sophomore year. In his freshman season, he played in 35 games for Quinnipiac and had six goals and 16 assists. Priskie was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team and was Quinnipiac’s Rookie of the Year in 2018.

Goaltenders

The Quinnipiac goaltending corps is led by junior Andrew Shortridge, who was named the Ecac Hockey Goaltender of the Year and a First Team All-American last season. He posted a 23-7-2 record with a 1.86 goals against average, a .935 save percentage and five shutouts in 32 appearances.

He will be joined in net by sophomore Keith Petruzzelli, who was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team last season. Petruzzelli posted an 8-5-2 record with a 2.65 goals against average and a .918 save percentage in 17 appearances as a freshman.

Incoming Freshmen

The Quinnipiac men’s Ice Hockey team welcomes six freshmen to the 2018-19 roster, Head Coach Rand Pecknold announced today.

The class is made up of three forwards and three defensemen, all of whom come to Hamden, Conn., from the United States Hockey League (USHL).

“We are excited about this year’s incoming freshman class,” Pecknold said. “They are all high-character young men that come from great families and we expect them to make an immediate impact on our program. We recruited these six student-athletes to Quinnipiac because of their ability to play the game at a high level and we are looking forward to having them in uniform this season.”

Key Returning Players

The Quinnipiac Bobcats men’s Ice hockey team is set to begin their 18-19 season and there are a few Key Players returning that fans should keep an eye on.

Senior captain Soren Jonzzon is back for his final season as a Bobcat. The defenseman is coming off of a 2017-18 Season where he scored one goal and tallied nine assists. He will be looked to as a leader on and off the ice this season.

goaltender Andrew Shortridge also returns for his senior season. Shortridge had a solid 2017-18, posting a .927 save percentage in 30 games played He will look to build off of that success this season and help lead the Bobcats to victory.

Other key returning players include junior forward Odeen Tufto, who led the team in scoring last season with 36 points, and junior defenseman Chase Priskie, who was second on the team in scoring amongst defensemen with 24 points.

Players to Watch

The Quinnipiac Bobcats men’s ice hockey team is a NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that competes in the ECAC Hockey conference. The team is based in Hamden, Connecticut and plays its home games at the High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats are coached by Rand Pecknold, who is in his 23rd season as head coach of the program.

This season, the Bobcats will look to build on their success from last year when they won the Ecac Hockey regular season championship and made it to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive year. They will be led by senior captain Soren Jonzzon, who was named to the All-ECAC first team last year. Other players to watch include junior Odeen Tufto, who led the team in scoring last year; junior goalie Keith Petruzzelli, who was named to the All-ECAC second team last year; and freshman forward Jack McDonald, who was named ECAC hockey rookie of the Year last year.

With a mix of experienced veterans and young talent, the Bobcats should be a team to watch this season.

2018-19 Schedule

The 2018-19 Quinnipiac Bobcats men’s ice hockey season is the 26th season of play for the program and the 13th as a member of ECAC Hockey The Bobcats will look to improve upon their 17–16–5 record from last season.

2018-19 Season Preview

The Quinnipiac Bobcats are coming off a strong season in which they won the ECAC tournament and made it to the NCAA Tournament This year, they will look to build on that success with a talented roster that includes several key returnees.

Forwards
The Bobcats lost some key forwards from last season, but they still have plenty of talent up front. Junior captain Connor Jones is the team’s leading scorer from last season and will be counted on to lead the way again this year. Sophomores Odeen Tufto and Tanner Mackey are also returning after impressing as rookies last year, and they will be joined by a few talented newcomers.

Defensemen
Quinnipiac’s defense will be led by senior captain Chase Priskie, who is one of the best defenseman in college hockey He will be joined by a solid group of returning players, as well as a few talented newcomers.

Goaltenders
In net, the Bobcats have one of the best goalies in college hockey in sophomore Andrew Shortridge. He will be backed up by junior Michael Garteig, who was very solid in limited action last season.

Where Are They Now: 2017-18 Quinnipiac Hockey

It’s been just over two months since the 2017-18 Quinnipiac men’s hockey season came to an end. Here is an update on what some of last year’s key players are doing now:

Forwards
-Landon Smith: Signed a professional contract with the AHL’s Tucson Roadrunners. He had one goal in four games with the Roadrunners before being reassigned to their ECHL affiliate, the Rapid City Rush. In 19 games with the Rush, Smith has seven goals and 12 assists.
-Oskar Andren: Playing for HC Vita Hästen in Sweden’s second-tier Hockey League HockeyAllsvenskan. In 28 games, Andren has three goals and four assists.
-Dylan McLaughlin: Currently a free agent Last season, McLaughlin played two games with the AHL’s Rochester Americans and one game with the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones.

Defensemen
-Chad Brears: Also playing for HC Vita Hästen in Sweden’s second-tier Hockey League HockeyAllsvenskan. In 27 games, Brears has three goals and 10 assists.
– Peter Stoykewych: Stoykewych is currently a Free Agent Last season, he split time between the AHL’s Manitoba Moose and the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers.
