Introducing the 2020 Radford Baseball Schedule
We are excited to announce the 2020 Ford Baseball Schedule! This season, we will be playing a total of 40 games, 20 of which will be at home in Radford, Virginia. conference play will begin on March 6th and continue through May 16th. We have also scheduled four games against in-state rivals, Virginia Tech and Liberty.

Why this season is important for Radford Baseball
This season is important for Radford baseball because it is the first time in program history that the team will be playing in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament The team has a chance to make a run at the National Championship and they will be looking to build on their success from last season.
What Ford Baseball needs to do to win
Ford baseball is coming off of a successful 2019 season in which they made it to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2009. They will be looking to build off of that success in 2020, and here are a few things they will need to do to have a successful season
-Win more close games: In 2019, Radford was 9-9 in games decided by two runs or less. They will need to improve on that record in 2020 if they want to make noise in the NCAA Tournament
-Get off to a better start: In 2019, Radford started the season 11-15. While they were able to turn things around and make the NCAA tournament they will need to have a better start to the season if they want to make a deep run in the tournament.
– Improve their road record: In 2019, Radford was just 10-17 on the road. If they can improve that record in 2020, it will go a long way towards helping them make a deep run in the NCAA tournament
The Key Players to watch this season
As the 2020 Radford baseball season approaches, let’s take a look at the key players to Watch This Season These are the guys that could make or break the team’s chances of success this year.
Pitcher Liam Hendricks is one of the top returning players for the Highlanders. He posted a 3.86 ERA in 2019 and will be looked to as the ace of the staff this season. Other key pitchers include Ryan Hershberger and Tristan Clarke, who both had solid 2019 campaigns.
The Radford offense will be led by outfielder/first baseman Jordan Qsar. He hit .301 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI last season and will be looked upon to provide some power in the middle of the lineup. Other key offensive contributors include second baseman Hunter Higgerson, who hit .290 last season, and shortstop Austin Hamilton, who provides good contact at the top of the lineup.

Ford Baseball looks to build on the success of their 2019 season in which they went 37-24 and made an appearance in the NCAA tournament The 2020 season will be a challenging one, as the Highlanders will face several strong teams. Here is a game-by-game analysis of Radford’s schedule.
March 3: vs James Madison The Dukes are coming off a 2019 season in which they went 30-27 and made an appearance in the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. They will be a tough opponent for Radford, as they have several experienced players returning.
March 6-8: at East Carolina The Pirates are coming off a 2019 season in which they went 45-16 and made it to the NCAA Tournament They will be a tough opponent, as they have a lot of experience and talent returning.
March 10: at Norfolk State The Spartans are coming off a 2019 season in which they went 12-40. They will be a tough opponent, as they have several experienced players returning.
March 13-15: vs UNC Wilmington The Seahawks are coming off a 2019 season in which they went 31-25 and made it to the Colonial Athletic Association tournament. They will be a tough opponent, as they have a lot of experience and talent returning.
March 17: vs Virginia Tech The Hokies are coming off a 2019 season in which they went 36-21 and made it to the NCAA Tournament They will be a tough opponent, as they have several experienced players returning.
March 20: vs Liberty- The Flames are coming off a 2019 season in which they went 21-34. They will be a tough opponent, as they have several experienced players returning.
March 24-26: at VCU- The Rams are coming off a 2019 season in which they went 42-17 and made it to the NCAA tournament They will be a tough opponent, as they have several experienced players returning
How the 2020 season will end for Radford Baseball
It is anyone’s guess when, or if, the 2020 college baseball season will start. However, if the season does start, here’s how it will end for Radford Baseball. On May 16th, 2020, Radford will travel to Blacksburg to take on their in-state rivals, the Virginia Tech Hokies. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

The 2020 Radford Baseball Awards
The 2020 Radford baseball team will play their home games at Dedmon Center Lawn in Radford, Virginia. The Highlanders will play a total of 56 games in the 2020 season. 34 of those games will be conference matchups in the Big South Conference
The 2020 Radford Baseball Team will compete in the Big South Conference and look to improve on their 2019 record of 25-31 (15-11 BSC). Head Coach Joe Rittano returns for his 4th season at the helm of the Highlanders.
Rittano led Radford to a school record 37 wins and a berth in the NCAA Tournament in his first season as head coach in 2017. TheHighlanders also won their first ever Big South Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year in 2018. Rittano was named the Big South Coach of the Year for his efforts.
The 2020 schedule features several marquee matchups, including a Home game against defending National Champion Vanderbilt on March 3rd, as well as conference series against Coastal Carolina Liberty, and Campbell – all of whom finished 2019 ranked in the top-25 nationally.
The 2020 Radford Baseball Hall of Fame class
Radford baseball will induct four members into its 2020 Hall of Fame class, the program announced Monday.
Joining the Hall of Fame will be former Major League All-Star second baseman Bret Boone, Major League pitcher Tom Gordon longtime Head Coach Kerby Farrell and former player and Assistant Coach Richard Power.
The 2020 Hall of Fame class will be formally inducted at a ceremony on Oct. 10, 2020, which is during Radford’s Fall Family Weekend.
The 2020 Radford baseball season in review
The 2020 Radford baseball season was one to forget. The team finished with a record of 9-27 and failed to make the conference tournament for the second year in a row. The high points of the season were few and far between, but there were some silver linings to be found. Let’s take a look back at the 2020 Radford baseball season
February:
The season got off to a rough start, with the team dropping their first four games. Things didn’t get any better in February, as the team finished the month with a record of 2-9.
March:
March was a bit better for Radford, as they won seven out of their sixteen games. However, they still failed to make the conference tournament
April:
The team struggled again in April, winning just four games. However, they did manage to pick up some big wins against conference foes Liberty and Charleston Southern
May:
Radford ended the season on a high note, winning four out of their five games in May. This included a series victory over Conference foe High Point
