It was a hard-fought victory for SHSU in a game that UH controlled for long stretches. The Bearkats were down by as many as eight points in the first half and did not lead until there was less than two minutes remaining in the game.
The Good:
SHSU showed great resilience in coming back from an 8-point deficit to win the game.
The Bearkats were led by junior guard Zachary Simmons, who had 19 points and eight rebounds. Simmons was clutch, hitting two Free throws with less than a minute remaining to give SHSU the lead for good.
The win was a big confidence booster for a Sam Houston team that is picked to finish near the bottom of the Southland Conference
