Introduction

The team has made it to the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, and they are looking to continue that success in the upcoming season The team is led by a core group of players who have been with the program for several years, and they are looking to take the next step and compete for a state championship

History

In 1923, the school district of Solon, Ohio, was founded. The High School did not have a basketball team until 1931. The team had their first winning season in 1936 and won their first conference championship in 1938. The team won their first state championship in 1939. The team has won a total of six State Championships four conference championships and fourteen district championships. The team has had fifteen players go on to play in the NBA.

The team’s success

The Solon Basketball team’s success this season has been nothing short of incredible. With a record of 20-1, they are currently ranked 2nd in the state.

What has been the key to their success? Head Coach Jim Hayes credits it to the team’s hard work and unselfishness. “We have a lot of talented players on this team, but they are also willing to put in the work to get better. And they are always looking to make their teammates better as well,” he said.

This attitude has resulted in a team that is not only successful on the court, but also close off it. “They are really like a family,” said Coach Hayes. “They support each other and have each other’s backs, both on and off the court.”

The team’s success has been a long time coming. They have been steadily improving over the past few years, and this season they are finally reaping the rewards of their hard work With a strong core of seniors leading the way, they are poised to make a deep run in the State Tournament Whatever happens, this team has already made Solon proud.

The players

The Solon Varsity Basketball team is composed of 12 players, all of whom have worked extremely hard to make it to the top. The team is made up of 3 seniors, 5 juniors, and 4 sophomores. The seniors are: Zachary Taylor (captain), Justin Nguyen, and Nathan Stevens. The juniors are: Gavin Thompson, Josh Kim, Ethan Wu, Derek Wang, and Ryan Zhu. The sophomores are: James Huang, Kevin Chen, Jiangyang Li, and Isaac Zhou. Each and every one of these individuals has contributed to the team in their own way and has helped the team get to where it is today.

The coaches

The Solon Basketball team has been on the rise in recent years and a big reason for that has been the Coaching Staff head coach Matt Karasek has instilled a winning culture in the program, and it has translated to success on the court.

Assistant coaches Steve Purcell and Eric Stec have also played a big role in the team’s success. Purcell is one of the best defensive minds in the game, and Stec is one of the best offensive minds. Together, they have helped Solon become one of the best basketball programs in the state.

The fans

The fans are the lifeblood of any sport. They are the ones who pack the stands and create an electric atmosphere that can give the home team a much-needed boost. They are also the ones who jeer and heckle the opposing team trying to get under their skin and give their own team an advantage.
