Introducing the team
The St Edward’s Eagles are set to take flight for another season of exciting Collegiate Baseball Get to know the team that will be representing St Edward’s University on the diamond this year.
The pitcher’s spot
Pitching is often the most important position on a Baseball Team as the pitcher is the one who throws the ball to the batter. A good pitcher can make a big difference in the outcome of a game.
The St. Edward’s baseball team has a strong pitching rotation for the upcoming season The team’s ace is senior Jason Smith, who has been with the team for four years. Smith has good control of his pitches and is able to throw strikes when he needs to.
The rest of the pitching rotation includes junior Bobby Johnson, sophomore Mike Ross, and freshman Timmy Nguyen. Johnson is a left-handed pitcher who has good movement on his pitches. Ross is a right-handed pitcher who throws hard and has good control. Nguyen is a left-handed pitcher who is still developing his control but has good potential.
The team also has several Relief pitchers who can come into the game in specific situations. Junior Alex Rodriguez is a right-handed pitcher who specializes in getting batters out when they are ahead in the count. Sophomore Jake Adams is a left-handed pitcher who does well against batter who hit for power. Freshman Andrew Green is a right-handed pitcher who comes into games in late innings to close them out.

Catching some Z’s
The St. Edward’s Baseball Team is excited to announce their roster for the upcoming season!
The team will be led by catcher Zev Taubenfeld, who is entering his senior year. Zev has been a part of the St. Edward’s baseball team since he was a freshman, and has been a starter since his sophomore year. He is a two-time All-American and was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year last season.
Other key members of the team include first baseman Mikey Zurita, who is also entering his senior year, and second baseman/outfielder Matt Zawaski, who is entering his junior year. Mikey has been with the team since he was a freshman and has been a starter since his sophomore year. Matt joined the team last year as a sophomore and was an immediate contributor, starting in 38 games.
The team will also feature a number of talented freshmen, including infielder/outfielder Luke Zorica and pitcher Anthony Zarilli. Both Luke and Anthony were highly sought-after recruits and should make an immediate impact on the team.

Josh is a junior and has been starting for two years. He’s a good contact hitter and has good speed. Jason is a sophomore and is new to the varsity team He’s a good hitter with great speed.
