Origins of Sycamore Baseball

Few high school baseball programs in the country can match the rich tradition and success of Sycamore Baseball.

The program has its roots in the 1950s when a group of young men came together to form a summer baseball team The team quickly gained a reputation for being one of the best in the area.

In the early 1960s, the team joined a local league and began playing against other High School teams. The team enjoyed success in this league, winning several championships.

In 1968, the team made the decision to join the Greater Cincinnati Conference (GCC). This was a big step up in competition, but the team rose to the challenge and quickly became one of the top programs in the conference.

The 1970s were a decade of great success for Sycamore Baseball. The team won GCC titles in 1970, 1971, 1974, and 1975. They also made appearances in the State Tournament in 1971, 1974, and 1975.

The 1980s were another decade of success for Sycamore Baseball. The team won GCC titles in 1980, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, and 1990. They also made appearances in the State Tournament in 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1987 plateappearances

The Early Years

During that time, the program produced thirty-nine Major League Baseball draft picks including two first-rounders.

In 2019, the Sycamores advanced to the College World Series for the first time in program history. They finished the season ranked No. 6 in the nation after going 50-16 overall and 20-5 in conference play

Past success and recent accomplishments have made Sycamore baseball one of the most respected programs in the country. Current head coach Josh Carroll continues to build on that legacy, recruiting top talent from all over the world to don the Green and White.
