The team struggled initially making the transition, but has since found its footing and become a force to be reckoned with in Conference USA In recent years UCF has won multiple conference championships and made several appearances in the NCAA Tournament

The UCF baseball coaching Staff

The UCF Baseball coaching staff is led by head coach Greg Lovelady. Lovelady enters his fourth season at the helm of the Knights program in 2020. He has compiled a 141-91 (.608) record during his time in Orlando, including a 39-22 mark in 2018 that saw UCF reach the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013.

Assistant coaches Ryan Klosterman and Ryan Meisinger round out the staff. Klosterman is in his first season on staff after serving as Head Coach at Stetson for the past two years, while Meisinger is in his second year with the Knights after spending four seasons as an Assistant Coach at Appalachian State

The UCF baseball facilities are second to none in the American Athletic Conference The team plays its home games at Jay Bergman Field, which underwent a $2.5 million renovation in 2014 that included the construction of a new state-of-the-art press box, locker room and weight room. In addition to Bergman Field, the team also has access to the newly built UCF Baseball Complex which features eight batting cages, bullpen mounds, and a turf infield.

The Knights will open their season on the road against a tough Iowa team, followed by a home series against Duke. After that, they’ll travel to take on national power Vanderbilt, then return home for a three-game set against Wright State

Non-conference play will also feature games against in-state rivals Florida and Florida State as well as intriguing matchups against South Alabama and UC Santa Barbara In all, UCF will face 11 teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season.

Orlando’s own UCF Knights have seen a lot of success in recent years, and their Baseball Team is no exception. The Knights have made it to the NCAA tournament four times in the last six years and have won more than 40 games in three of those seasons. In 2019, they finished the year ranked No. 22 in the nation.

The Knights have built their success on a foundation of strong pitching, and that trend has continued into 2020. The team’s ERA is 2.56, good for second in the American Athletic Conference and 16th in the nation. They’ve also got a deep bullpen, with seven pitchers who have thrown at least 20 innings this season.
