The Fans
The fans of each team will play an important role in deciding who wins the game. The energy and passion of the fans can be a deciding factor in how the players perform on the court.
The Venues
In college basketball there are always a few key match-ups that everyone gets excited about. One of these games is between the University of Houston and Memphis. These two teams have been conference rivals for years, and their games are always highly anticipated. So, who will win this year’s edition of the “Battle of the Bones”?
The first thing to consider is the venue. This year, the game will be held at the FedExForum in Memphis. The venue can definitely have an impact on the outcome of a game, and in this case, it favors Memphis. The FedExForum is one of the best arenas in college basketball and it will be packed with rowdy fans cheering on the Tigers.
That being said, Houston is no stranger to playing in hostile environments. The Cougars have won some big games on the road in recent years including a victory at Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center last season. So, while home court advantage is definitely a factor to consider, it’s not necessarily a death sentence for Houston.
The Media
The media has been putting a lot of pressure on both teams, but especially Memphis. They are the favorites to win the conference and they have a lot of expectations to live up to. Uh has been trying to stay focused and not let the pressure get to them. They are considered the underdogs, but they believe in themselves and their ability to win.
The Referees
The Uh vs Memphis basketball game will be a close one, but the referees will have a big impact on who wins.
Both teams are struggling this season and are in need of a win. Uh is coming off of a loss to Temple, while Memphis is fresh off of a victory against ECU.
This will be the first time these two teams have played each other since 2013, when Memphis won by four points.
The refs for this game will be Mike Nance, Joe Lindsay, and Bert Smith.
The Prediction
It is safe to say that both teams have had a rocky start to their season. As of now, Uh is 3-4 while Memphis is 4-3. However, Memphis has played one more game than Uh. When looking at their past performances, Memphis has had a more consistent season thus far. Their 3 losses have come from tough opponents such as Wichita State Ole Miss and Tennessee. On the other hand, Uh’s 4 losses come from teams that they should be able to beat such as Tulane and SMU. Judging by these past performances and the Strength of Schedule for each team, it is fair to say that Memphis has had a tougher schedule and they have performed better than Uh so far this season.
In terms of recent form, Uh is coming off of 2 big wins against USF and Temple while Memphis lost their last game to Tennessee. Even though Uh has won their last 2 games, they are still 3-4 on the season which is not very good. On the other hand, Memphis is 4-3 but they have played one more game than Uh. When taking everything into consideration, it seems like Memphis has been the better team so far this season and they should be able to win this game against Uh.
The Aftermath
The American Athletic Conference (AAC) will have a new champion after this season. That’s because the conference tournament will be held atMemphis, and the top-seeded Tigers will be the prohibitive favorite to win it. But there is one team that could potentially spoil Memphis’s chances of winning the AAC and advance to the NCAA tournament Houston.
