What the 2020-21 Und hockey schedule Means for the Team

The schedule for the 2020-21 University of North Dakota men’s hockey season was released on Wednesday, and it features some big changes from what fans are used to seeing.

First and foremost, the schedule has been reduced from 34 games to 28. This is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that UND will not be playing in any non-conference games this season.

All of UND’s games will be played against Western Collegiate Hockey Association opponents. The WCHA is currently made up of 10 teams: Alaska, Alabama Huntsville Bemidji State Bowling Green Ferris State Lake Superior State Michigan Tech Minnesota State Northern Michigan and UND.

Of those 10 teams, UND will play each team four times (twice at home and twice on the road). The only exception is Bemidji State which UND will play three times.

This year’s schedule also features some changes in terms of when games will be played. For example, UND will now play Friday-Saturday series instead of Thursday-Friday-Saturday series. Additionally, there will be more Day Games than in years past.

All in all, the 2020-21 schedule looks like it could be a challenging one for UND. But with a strong group of returning players and some talented newcomers joining the team, the Fighting Hawks should be up for the task.

What the 2020-21 Und Hockey Schedule Tells Us

The 2020-21 college hockey season is right around the corner, and with it comes a full schedule of games for the University of North Dakota hockey team. Here’s a look at what the schedule tells us about the upcoming season

For starters, this season will be a shortened one due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, UND will only play 24 games instead of the usual 34 or so.

The schedule is also notable for its lack of marquee opponents. In past years, UND has faced off against some of the best teams in college hockey including Minnesota, Wisconsin, and St. Cloud State This year, however, those teams will all be playing in different conferences due to realignment.

That said, there are still some tough opponents on the schedule. The Fighting Hawks will open the season with a home-and-home series against Colorado College who finished last season ranked #6 in the nation. They’ll also face off against two other ranked teams in #9 Denver and #16 Omaha.

So what does all this tell us? First and foremost, it looks like this is going to be a challenging season for UND hockey. But with a strong core of returning players, they should be up to the task.
