The University of Alabama Huntsville Hockey Team A History

The University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH) has been home to a successful Hockey team for over four decades. The team has seen many ups and downs during its time, but has always managed to maintain a high level of success.

The team was founded in 1974, and quickly rose to prominence in the Southeast region of the United States The team won its first conference championship in 1977, and would go on to win four more in the next decade. The 1980s also saw the team make its first appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament, where it made it to the Sweet Sixteen

In recent years the team has continued to be one of the top programs in the Southeast. In 2013, the team won its first ever conference tournament championship, and followed that up with another conference tournament title in 2014. The team has also made several appearances in the NCAA Division I tournament in recent years including a trip to the Frozen Four in 2016.

The University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers are a NCAA Division I college Ice hockey team that represents The University of Alabama in Huntsville. The team is a member of the WCHA. They play at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. schedule is as follows:

Arizona State comes to Huntsville for a two game set on Friday and Saturday nights November 16th and 17th. This will be the first time the two teams have played each other since ASU left the WCHA.

The Chargers travel to Denver to take on the Pioneers on Friday and Saturday nights November 23rd and 24th.

Thanksgiving break will see UAH hosting Mercyhurst for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday nights November 30th and December 1st.

The University of Alabama Huntsville Hockey Team is coached by head coach Lance West and Assistant Coach Tylerossible. Coach West is in his second season as Head Coach of the Chargers. He led the team to a 16-16-4 overall record in his first season, and the team’s first appearance in the playoffs since the 2010-11 season. Prior to taking over as Head coach West spent four seasons as an assistant coach at UAH.

Assistant coach Tylerossible is in his first season with the Chargers. He spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at Mercyhurst University where he helped lead the team to two NCAA tournament appearances.
