Now that the off-season is officially over and spring training is in Full Swing it’s time to start thinking about which team will be the one to Watch This Season For my money, that team is the University of New Mexico Lobos Here’s a quick look at their roster:

The Unm Baseball Team is a Division I college baseball team that competes in the Mountain West Conference. The team is currently coached by Ray Birmingham. They play their home games at Isotopes Park located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The team has seen a lot of success in recent years winning the Mountain West conference tournament in 2013 and 2015. They have also made appearances in the NCAA tournament in 2013, 2014, and 2015. The team is looking to continue their success this season and make another appearance in the NCAA Tournament

Gabe Parra: One of the top outfielders in the country, Parra is a five-tool player who does it all for the Lobos. He’s a great hitter with power, speed, and a strong arm.

Marcos Reyes: The ace of the pitching staff, Reyes is a hard-throwing right-hander who can dominate hitters when he’s on his game. He’s got a great fastball and an improving slider that makes him tough to hit.

Joey Barriga: A solid all-around player, Barriga is a good hitter with some power and is also a very good defender at third base.

The team is led by outfielder Nicholas Banks, who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the fourth round of the 2019 MLB Draft Banks is a five-tool player who has the potential to be a star at the next level. He is joined by infielder Xavier Edwards, who was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft Edwards is a dynamic player who can impact the game both offensively and defensively.

Rounding out the roster are pitchers Tony Gonsolin and Nick Margevicius, who were both drafted in the ninth round of the 2016 MLB Draft Gonsolin is a hard-throwing right-hander who has electric stuff, while Margevicius is a crafty left-hander who knows how to get batters out.

He was named first team All-American last season and is looking to lead the team to the conference title this year.

The pitching staff is anchored by ace pitcher Josef Mathis, who returns for his senior year after leading the team in wins (9), ERA (3.09), and strikeouts (102) last season. He’ll be joined by fellow seniors Nick Pacheco and Mark Gomez, as well as junior college transfers Jacob Riddle and Kyle King

Dickson will be backed up by junior left-hander Ryan McGrath and sophomore right-hander Tyler Johnson. Both McGrath and Johnson had solid freshman seasons and will look to contribute to the team’s success this year.
