Infielders

The infielders for the University of Southern California baseball team are set to have a strong season. Junior transfer Matt Menard will start at first base, after impressing coaches in fall practices. At second base will be redshirt sophomore Chase Bushor, who is looking to build on a strong freshman campaign. shortstop is still up for grabs, but early indications are that it will be junior Felix Minjares. Rounding out the infield at third base is sophomore Ryan Smith

The outfield will feature a mixture of experience and youth. Senior captain Jake Mangum will start in left field while fellow senior Jordon Adell will patrol center field. In right field, the Trojans will turn to freshman phenom Jo Adell. The designated hitter spot will be rotated among various players, depending on match-ups.

Outfielders

Freshman Matt Vierling will be looking to make an impact in his first year with the Trojans. Vierling was a four-year starter at Archbishop Moeller High School and he hit .359 with 19 home runs and 95 RBI during his senior year.

Junior BJ Myers is back for his third season with USC. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder from Glendora, California is a power hitter who can also play first base. Myers was USC’s starting right fielder last season, and he hit .264 with four home runs and 19 RBI.

Sophomore AJ Ramirez will be looking to build on a strong freshman campaign in which he was named USC’s Defensive Player of the Year. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder from San Diego California is a versatile player who can play all three field positions Ramirez hit .273 with one home run and 15 RBI last season.

Senior Chris Williams returns for his fourth and final season with the Trojans. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder from Yorba Linda California is a veteran leader who has played all over the outfield during his time at USC. Williams hit .244 with two home runs and 12 RBI last season.
