Waco ISD Unveils New Baseball Field
On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, Waco ISD held a grand Opening Ceremony for the new McLane Stadium Baseball Field The $3 million project was funded by a combination of bonds and donations. The new field is located at the site of the old softball field and is named after former Waco ISD Board President and Baylor University Athletic Director Ian McLane.
The field features a grass infield with artificial turf in the outfield. It also has a new drainage system, lighting, and a covered grandstand that seats 1,500 spectators. The project also included the construction of a new concessions area and restrooms.
“This is a great day for Waco ISD athletics,” said Waco ISD Athletic Director Chris Hixson. “This new Baseball Field will be a first-class facility for our student-athletes, coaches, and fans.”

The Waco Independent School District will unveil a new Baseball Field on Tuesday, just in time for the 2017 season opener The new field, located at the Waco ISD sports complex is a regulation-size high school baseball diamond and includes all of the necessary amenities for both home and away teams.
The project was made possible through a partnership between the Waco ISD and McLennan Community College which donated the land for the field. Construction of the field was funded by the Waco ISD Athletic Booster Club, with additional support from the City of Waco and McLennan County.
The new Baseball Field is just one of several upgrades that have been made to the Waco ISD Sports Complex in recent years In 2016, a new track and field facility was built on site, and a new softball complex is currently under construction.
