Wayne State athletic director Rob Fournier has announced the baseball roster for the upcoming season The team will consist of 22 players, including 12 pitchers and 10 Position players
The roster includes 14 returnees from last season’s team that posted a 27-22 record, won the Great Lakes collegiate athletic conference North Division title and made an appearance in the NCAA Midwest Regional.
The pitching staff is led by All-American senior right-hander Michael Wiseman (Wixom, Mich./Walled Lake Northern), who posted a 9-3 record with a 2.48 ERA last season. He was named the GLIAC North Division Pitcher of the Year and was a first-team all-conference selection.

The Wayne State baseball team begins it 2019 campaign on February 22 with a home contest against Saginaw Valley State Head Coach Ryanد Longstreet enters his fifth season at the helm of the Warriors and has assembled a roster that features a mix of returners and newcomers.
Leading the way for the Warriors are a trio of key returners in seniors pitcher Brad Szymanski (Utica, Mich./Henry Ford CC) and infielders Connor Murphy (Chesterfield, Mich./L’Anse Creuse North) and Jordan Swiss (Howell, Mich.).

Wayne State head baseball coach Ryan Montgomery announced today the team’s roster for the upcoming 2021 season. The Warriors will have 19 newcomers on the squad, including 13 freshmen and six transfers. “We are excited about the group of young men that make up our 2021 team,” said Montgomery. “Our goal every season is to field a competitive team that can contend for a Conference Championship and we feel we have assembled a roster that gives us a chance to do just that.”

Wayne State’s non-Conference Schedule includes 23 games against 15 different opponents. The Warriors will open their season with five games in Florida, including a three-game set against Nova Southeastern (Feb. 5-7) before taking on West Virginia State (Feb. 9), Mercyhurst (Feb. 12), Ursuline (Feb. 16), Seton Hill (Feb. 19) and West Virginia Wesleyan (Feb. 20). The Warriors will also host two tournaments at George Kell Field at John O’Donnell Stadium, the Warrior Classic March 1-3 and the Motor City Madness March 8-10, hosting Lake Erie Mercyhurst, Northwood, Ohio Dominican and Saginaw Valley State in the Warrior Classic and CSU Bakersfield, Incarnate Word Northern Kentucky, Oakland and Southern Illinois Edwardsville in the Motor City Madness

Wayne State will be looking to make a return to the postseason in 2020 after missing out in 2019. The team will have a lot of young talent on the roster, with 14 freshmen and five sophomores. The Warriors will also have a new head coach as Ryan Girard was hired in the offseason.

On the mound, senior starting pitcher Ryan Fecteau will look to build off a strong junior campaign in which he was named a First Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
