The Western Illinois Baseball Coaches

The Western Illinois baseball coaching staff is made up of Head Coach Ryan Giannini, assistant coaches Robert Young and Joe Bittner, and volunteer Assistant Coach Mike Spiezio. The staff has a combined total of over 55 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Giannini is entering his sixth season as Head coach of the Leathernecks. He has led the team to two conference titles and three NCAA tournament appearances.

The Western Illinois Baseball Facilities

The Western Illinois baseball facilities are among the best in the country. The team’s home field, Alfred Dickey Park, is a beautiful ballpark that was renovated in 2006. The park has a capacity of 3,000 fans and features a state-of-the-art press box, concession stand and locker rooms The playing surface is made of top-quality turf, and the field dimensions are identical to those of Fenway Park in Boston.

The team’s practice facility is also first-rate. The indoor hitting facility is complete with six batting cages, a Pitching Machine and a full-size infield. The weight room is one of the largest in Division I Baseball and the team has its own locker room meeting room, and training room.

Western Illinois’s recruiting classes have been ranked among the best in the country in recent years and the team has produced several Major League baseball players including Alex Rios of the Toronto Blue Jays and Aaron Hill of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
