WKU Baseball Roster Announced for Upcoming Season

The WKU baseball team has announced their roster for the upcoming season The team is looking to improve on their last season’s performance and make a run at the conference championship

The Western Kentucky University baseball team has announced their roster for the upcoming season The team will consist of 27 players, including 12 pitchers and 15 Position players The roster includes 14 seniors, 11 juniors, one sophomore, and one freshman.

The starting rotation will consist of seniors Michael McCreery and Garrett Dennis, juniors Dylan Hardy and Tanner Perkins, and sophomore David Heiss. The bullpen will be made up of seniors Brad Tinsley, Nick Burdi, and Jordan Thompson; juniors Anthony Meta, Kyle McKenzie, Jimmy Dodson, and Austin Wrinkle; and sophomores Matt Anderson and Joel McGuire.

The position players are seniors Steven Kraft, Ryan Cavanagh, Choice Nichols, infielders Connor Goedert and Danny Hudzina, outfielders Ryan Wong and Jared Andreoli; juniors Gavin Coombs and Colby Dailey; sophomores Chandler Rosa and Troy Squires; and freshman infielder Connor Guidry.

WKU Baseball Schedule

The Western Kentucky University baseball team will begin its 2019 season on February 15th when they travel to Lexington to take on the University of Kentucky The Hilltoppers will play a total of 56 games this season, 28 of which will be played at home at Nick Denes Field. WKU’s Conference Schedule includes 16 games against Mid-American Conference opponents and four games against Conference USA foes.

Western Kentucky University head baseball coach John Shackleton announced today the Hilltoppers’ roster for the upcoming season The team will consist of 25 players, including 14 position players and 11 pitchers.

The Hilltoppers will have 10 seniors on the roster, including seven position players and three pitchers. The senior class is highlighted by outfielder Devin Anctil, who was named to the Sun Belt Conference’s All-Newcomer team last season after hitting .290 with four home runs and 21 RBIs. Other key seniors include catcher Jordan Browder, infielder Jared Punch, and pitcher Jake Giles.

The team will also feature eight juniors, six sophomores, and one freshman. Among the juniors are returning starters such as second baseman Tate Sanderson and pitcher Matt Pidich. The sophomores include first baseman/outfielder Luke Heyer, who led the team in home runs (5) and RBIs (27) last season as a freshman, and pitcher Zach Greene, who made 13 starts as a freshman in 2016. The lone freshman on the roster is outfielder Dalton Reese.

Someillan, who was named to the All-Conference team last season, is expected to play a key role in the team’s pitching rotation this year. Other notable returnees include junior outfielder Braden Scott and sophomore catcher Chase Anderson. Scott was named the Conference Rookie of the Year last season, while Anderson was an All-Conference honorable mention.
