The Yaks will open their 2018 season on February 2nd with a three-game series against Lower Columbia College.

Since Yakima Valley Community College (YVCC) dropped its Baseball Program in 2011, the Community College has seen a gradual but steady increase in enrollment.
According to a report by the Yakima Herald-Republic, YVCC enrolled just over 9,000 students in fall 2011. By fall 2016, that number had risen to nearly 11,000.
YVCC President Dr. Linda Schott attributes the enrollment growth in part to the reestablishment of the baseball program
“The return of baseball has definitely helped increase enrollment numbers at Yakima Valley Community College ” Schott told the Herald-Republic. “It’s brought a lot of excitement and energy to campus.”
Yakima CC head baseball coach Tim Hirshman echoed Schott’s sentiments, saying that the Baseball Program has “brought a lot of pride back to the school.”
“People are excited about YVCC again,” Hirshman told the Herald-Republic. ” They’re excited about what we’re doing on and off the field.”
The Yakima CC baseball team has compiled a record of 72-48 over the last three seasons, and made back-to-back appearances in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) playoffs in 2016 and 2017.
