The Game Plan
In order to make a run in the state tournament the Lima Senior Basketball team will need to execute their game plan The game plan is to play tough defense, rebound the ball well, and to make their shots. If they can do those things, they will give themselves a chance to win every game.
The Fans
The bleachers are empty at Lima Senior High School’s basketball gymnasium. The silence is deafening. It’s just another cold, dreary day in Ohio. But there’s something different in the air today. A sense of excitement and anticipation hangs heavy, like a thick fog.
The fans start to trickle in, slowly at first, but then all at once. They come from all over – old, young, black, white. Some are die-hard fans who have been cheering on the Lima Senior Spartans for years. Others are new to the game, drawn in by the team’s recent success.
They all have one thing in common: they believe in their team.
The Spartans take the court to a rousing round of applause from the stands. The game is about to begin, and Lima Senior is ready to make a run at the state championship title.
The Coaches
In order to make a run in the state tournament Lima Senior will have to rely on their coaches to lead the way. The head coach is Chris Miller, who is in his fourth year with the team. He has a career record of 85-47, and has led the team to two state tournament appearances. In his first year, the team went 14-14 and lost in the first round of the tournament. The following year, they went 19-9 and lost in the second round. Last year, they went 22-6 and made it to the semifinals before losing to eventual state champion Cincy Withrow. This year, they are 21-5 and ranked fifth in the state.
The Assistant Coach is Nick Harlamert, who is in his first year with Lima Senior. He has worked as a youth basketball coach for many years, and has also coached at the high school level.
The team will also have to rely on their senior leader, Jaden Avenue, who is averaging 18 points per game this season. He will need to be at his best if Lima Senior wants to make a run in the tournament.
The Referees
In every game, there are three officials who are responsible for enforcing the rules and keeping the game running smoothly. These officials are commonly referred to as referees. The lead referee is the one who makes most of the calls during the game and has the final say in any disputed calls. The other two referees are responsible for watching specific areas of the court and helping out with calls as needed.
All three referees have a whistle, which they use to signal when a foul has been committed or when play has been stopped for some other reason. They also each have a set of colored flags, which they wave to signal when a player has committed certain types of fouls.
When a player commits a foul, the referee will blow their whistle and then signal the type of foul by waving a flag. The lead referee will then make a decision on whether or not to award Free throws to the fouled player based on the type of foul that was committed. If they decide that Free throws should be awarded, they will signal how many by holding up that number of fingers.
The most common type of foul is called a personal foul This is when a player uses their body to stop another player from moving or to take the ball away from them. If this happens while the player with the ball is shooting, they will be awarded two free throws if their shot doesn’t go in. If it does go in, they will be awarded one free throw
There are other types of fouls that can be committed, such as technical fouls (when a player breaks one of the rules), flagrant fouls (when a player intentionally tries to hurt another player), and goaltending (when a Defensive Player interferes with a shot while it’s still in mid-air). These types of fouls usually result in free throws being awarded to the fouled team, but sometimes players can be ejected from the game for committing them.
It’s important to remember that referees are human beings just like everyone else and that they sometimes make mistakes. If you think that a call was made incorrectly, it’s important to stay calm and not let your emotions get the best of you. Yelling at or arguing with referees will not change their mind and it can result in you getting ejected from the game.”
The Other Team
The Lima Senior Spartans will be looking to make a run in the State Tournament this year. The team is led by senior guard Jordan Johnson, who has committed to play at the University of Toledo next year. The Spartans are also looking to get back to the State Tournament after missing out last year.

The Parents
The Lima Senior boys basketball team is looking to make a run in the State Tournament this year. But they’re not the only ones with their eyes on the prize. The team’s parents are also hoping to make a run of their own in the state tournament of parenting.
“We want to win it all,” said John Smith, father of center Luke Smith “We’ve been working hard all season and we feel like we have a chance to do something special.”
The team’s parents have been attending every game, cheering loudly from the stands and providing emotional support for their sons. They have also been helping with fundraising efforts and providing meals after away games.
“We just want to do whatever we can to help the team,” said Smith. “We want them to know that we’re behind them 100 percent.”
The team’s run in the state tournament begins on Thursday with a game against Columbus Northland.
The Alumni
The Alumni of the Lima Senior basketball team want to see their boys make a deep run in the state tournament this year.
