The Bobcats struggled offensively throughout the game, shooting just 32.8 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range They were also outrebounded by the Roadrunners, 39-34.
Texas State was led in scoring by Nijal Pearson, who had 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Isiah James was the only other Bobcat in double figures, scoring 15 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
UTSA was led by Malik Smith, who had 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including four three-pointers. Jeff Beverly and Giovanni De Nicolao added 14 points each for the Roadrunners.

The Bobcats (10-17, 4-9 Sun Belt) were outscored by the Roadrunners (15-12, 8-5) in every quarter except the fourth, when they outscored UTSA 14-11. Texas State trailed by as many as 18 points in the game.
Nijal Pearson led the Bobcats with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, while Isiah Small had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Eric Terry was the only other Texas State player in double figures, scoring 10 points.
Jhivvan Jackson led all scorers with 22 points for UTSA. Keaton Wallace added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Byron Frohnen had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Texas State will next be in action on Saturday when they host Louisiana at Strahan Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
