Key Players

With a core of returning starters and key reserves, the Duke Blue Devils will look to make a run at the National Championship in the 18-19 season

Leading the way for Duke will be seniors Marvin Bagley III and Grayson Allen. Bagley, a 6’11” forward, is one of the most dominant players in college basketball and is a leading candidate for National Player of the Year. He averaged 21.2 points and 11.1 rebounds per game last season and will be counted on to lead the way on both ends of the court for Duke this season. Allen, a 6’5″ guard, is one of the most experienced players on the team and is one of its best shooters. He averaged 15.5 points per game last season and will be looked to as a leader both on and off the court.

Rounding out the starting lineup will be junior Trevon Duval (guard), sophomores Wendell Carter Jr. (forward) and Gary Trent Jr. (guard), and freshman R.J. Barrett (forward). Duval is an outstanding talent at point guard and is one of the best distributors in college basketball He averaged 10.3 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game last season and will be counted on to run Duke’s offense this season. Carter Jr., a 6’10” forward, provides Duke with a versatile big man who can score inside or outside, rebound, and block shots He averaged 13 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks per game last season and will be looked to as a key piece in Duke’s push for a National Championship this season. Trent Jr., a 6’6″ guard, is one of Duke’s best shooters and provides them with another scoring option outside of Bagley III and Allen. He averaged 14 points per game last season while shooting nearly 45% from three-point range and will look to build on that success this season as Duke’s go-to shooter off the bench. Barrett, a 6’7″ forward from Canada, was ranked as the number one player in his class by many recruiting analysts coming into this season. He has outstanding instincts as a scorer and has comparisons to some of the greats who have come through Duke already such as Grant Hill and Jabari Parker
