5 Sleepers to Watch in Arizona High School Basketball for the Class of 2022
Here are 5 high school basketball players in the state of Arizona that may not be getting the recognition they deserve but have big-time potential heading into their junior seasons.
1) 6’4” CG Jaden Greathouse – Poston Butte High School (Florence, AZ)
Scoring machine that can provide buckets in a hurry. Greathouse has a sweet spot from about 18 feet and in and can finish with contact near the rim. Still needs to improve his perimeter shot to truly be a next level player but his high motor and ability to get to the rim make him an intriguing prospect.
2) 6’7” PF Brayden Peterson – Chino Valley High School (Chino Valley, AZ)
Peterson is a big body down low that uses his size well when sealing off defenders and going up for rebounds. He lacks some explosiveness but makes up for it with smart positioning and a nice touch around the basket. Could be an effective college player if he develops a little more of an offensive repertoire.
3) 6’0” PG Drew Shaw – Horizon Honors high school (Phoenix, AZ)
A true floor general, Shaw does an excellent job of running his team’s offense and always seems to make the right play. Shaw isn’t the biggest or most athletic player but he makes up for it with smarts and a High Basketball IQ. A true leader on the court that makes those around him better.
4) 6’5” SF Marcus Bagley – Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix, AZ)
The younger brother of NBA forward Marquese Chriss, Marcus Bagley has already begun to turn heads with his play on the AAU circuit. He still has a ways to go before he reaches his brother’s level but he has all the tools to be a very good player in his own right. Has nice size for a wing and is an above average athlete with a smooth shooting stroke. If he continues to develop, he could be one of the state’s best players by the time he’s a senior.
5) 6’8” PF Harry Crabb – Catalina Foothills High School (Tucson, AZ)
Crabb is a long and lanky forward that is still filling out his frame but has plenty of potential. He moves well for someone his size and has good touch around the basket. Once he adds some strength, he could be tough to stop inside as he continues to develop his post game.
