Introducing the team

The Bearcats will look to rebound this season after a disappointing end to last year. They bring back a core of experienced players and will look to add some young talent to the mix. Here’s a look at the Binghamton basketball roster for the upcoming season

The starting lineup

Binghamton will have a young but experienced starting lineup this season. Rising junior guard Kevin Whitley will likely be the team’s leading scorer. He averaged 10.5 points per game last season and shot 39% from three-point range Senior forward Danny Apostol will provide a strong presence in the paint. He averaged 6.9 rebounds per game last season and is Binghamton’s career leader in blocks (103). Junior guard Sam Sessoms will run the point for the Bearcats this season. He was named America East Rookie of the Year last season after averaging 13.6 points and 5.0 assists per game

The Bearcats’ starting lineup will also include two sophomore forwards: Richard Caldwell Jr. and Ayodele Adepitan. Caldwell averaged 5.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game as a freshman, while Adepitan tallied 4.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest.

The bench

The bench is a term used to describe the players who do not start the game. These players come into the game when the starters need a break, are not playing well, or if the other team has players who match up better against the starters. The bench players usually play less than the starters, but they can have a big impact on the game.

Binghamton has several players who could be considered “bench players.” Guard/forward Jimmy Gray is one of them. The coaching staff

Binghamton’s men’s Basketball team is coached by Tommy Demarco. Coach Demarco is in his sixth season as the Bearcats Head Coach Prior to Binghamton, he served as an Assistant Coach at the University of Hartford for four seasons. Tommy is anative of Trumbull, Conn., and played his collegiate basketball at Central Connecticut State University from 2001-05.

Binghamton University Athletics is proud to present the 2019-2020 men’s basketball team The Bearcats return four starters from a year ago and will look to make noise in the America East Conference BU will be led by America East Co-Coach of the Year Tom Michalek. This year’s squad features 11 lettermen, including four starters, and six newcomers.

Binghamton has compiled a 97-131 (.427) record in eight seasons under head coach Tom Michalek, who was named co-America East Coach of the Year last season. Last year, the Bearcats went 17-16 overall and earned their first postseason win in program history with a 71-68 victory over Maine in the quarterfinals of the America East Tournament The Bearcats have improved their win total in each of the last three years and have posted a 42-30 (.583) mark over the last two seasons, which is tied for the seventh-best winning percentage in Division I Basketball during that span.

The two teams have played each other 30 times, with UConn holding a 19-11 lead in the series. The most recent meeting was in 2018, when UConn won 74-67.

Albany: Albany is Binghamton’s biggest rival when it comes to America East Conference play. The two schools have met 74 times, with Albany holding a 42-32 lead in the series. The most recent meeting was in 2019, when Albany won 73-71.

Justin Robbins is a 6’8″ forward from Massachusetts. He is one of the team’s best defenders and rebounders.

Darius Paul is a 6’9″ center from Illinois. He is known for his inside scoring and shot-blocking ability.

Moses Wooden is a 6’6″ guard from Pennsylvania. He is known for his defense and hustle on the court.

FranklinSession is a 6’0″ guard from North Carolina He is known for his quickness and steals on defense.
