About the Memphis Tigers Women’s Basketball team
The Memphis Tigers women’s basketball team represents the University of Memphis in NCAA Division I college basketball The team has been a member of the American Athletic Conference since 2013.
The Tigers have had great success over the years, and have made it to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament 15 times, most recently in 2019. They have also won 7 conference championships most recently in 2020.
The team is currently coached by Head Coach Melissa McFerrin, who has been at the helm since 2019. She has led the team to a record of 20-8 in her first season.
The Tigers have a long list of talented players, many of whom have gone on to have successful careers in the WNBA. Some of the team’s most notable alumni include Tammy Jackson, who was a member of the inaugural NBA All-Star Team, and Candace Parker who is a two-time NBA MVP and three-time Olympic gold medalist.
The current roster includes stars like Precious Achiuwa, who was named AAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, and Boogie Brozoski, who was named AAC Sixth Woman of the Year in 2020.
