Miami’s recruiting class

In recent years the Miami Hurricanes have had top-10 recruiting classes The class of 2020 is no different, as Miami currently has the No. 6 class in the country.

The class is headlined by five-star point guard Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, who committed to the Hurricanes back in November. Robinson-Earl is one of the top recruits in the country and someone who has a chance to make an immediate impact for Miami.

The rest of Miami’s recruiting class is made up of four-star recruits: shooting guard Earl Timberlake, small forward Anthony Walker, Power Forward Sam Waardenburg and center Rodney Miller Jr.

All five of these players have a chance to be key contributors for the Hurricanes over the next few years and help lead Miami back to being one of the top teams in college basketball

The Miami Hurricanes basketball team is always on the lookout for top recruits Here are a few of the players they are watching for in the class of 2020:

-5-star recruit Isaiah Mobley is a 6’10” power forward from Temecula, California. He is ranked as the No. 4 player in the country by ESPN.

-4-star recruitJeremiah Robinson-Earl is a 6’9″ power forward from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He is ranked as the No. 21 player in the country by ESPN.

-4-star recruit LukeGarza is a 6’11” center from Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa. He is ranked as the No. 43 player in the country by ESPN.

Who to watch for

With the college basketball regular season winding down, it’s time to start think about who will be suiting up for the Miami Hurricanes next year. Here are some of the top recruits the Hurricanes are targeting:

Class of 2020
– 5-star SG Scottie Barnes: Barnes is one of the top recruits in the country and has already drawn comparisons to Jimmy Butler He’s a versatile player that can do a little bit of everything on the court.
– 4-star PG Isaiah Wong Wong is another top recruit in the 2020 class that has been drawing comparisons to Dwyane Wade He’s an explosive scorer that can also dish out assists.
– 4-star C N’Faly Dante: Dante is a 6’11” center that is originally from Mali. He’s a physical presence in the paint that can block shots and score points

Class of 2021
– 5-star PF Patrick Baldwin Jr.: Baldwin is one of the Top Players in the 2021 class and has already received offers from Duke, Kentucky, and UCLA. He’s a 6’9″ forward that can shoot from outside and overpower opponents in the paint.
– 4-star SG Julian Newman: Newman is a talented guard that has been on Miami’s radar for awhile now. He’s an excellent shooter with quickness and ball-handling skills

Class of 2020

As the College Basketball recruiting cycle enters its final stages, the Miami Hurricanes are still targeting a Number of players in the Class of 2020. Here’s a look at some of the prospects that the Hurricanes are still eyeing:

five-star center N’Faly Dante. The 6-11, 240-pounder from Mali is widely considered one of the top prospects in the 2020 class. He’s currently ranked No. 8 overall by ESPN. Dante has taken official visits to Kentucky, LSU and Texas A&M, and is also considering Memphis and Oregon.

five-star power forward Greg Brown The 6-9, 210-pounder from Austin, Texas is ranked No. 11 overall by ESPN. He’s taken official visits to Auburn, Kansas, Michigan and Tennessee, and is also considering Florida and Texas.

four-star point guard Jalen Suggs The 6-4, 195-pounder from Minneapolis is ranked No. 17 overall by ESPN. He’s taken official visits to Gonzaga, Ohio State and Xavier, and is also considering Iowa State and Stanford.

four-star small forward Ziaire Williams. The 6-7, 185-pounder from Chatsworth, California is ranked No. 19 overall by ESPN. He’s taken official visits to Arizona State Notre Dame Oregon and USC, and is also considering UCLA and Memphis.

Class of 2021

The Miami Hurricanes men’s Basketball team is looking to add some serious talent to its roster in the upcoming 2021 Recruiting Class

Head coach Jim Larrañaga and his staff have already landed two verbal commitments from five-star prospect Moses Moody and four-star guard Earl Timberlake. As of right now, the ‘Canes are also in contention for some of the top recruits in the nation, including five-star forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. and five-star guard Jason “Jody” Demetrius.

Here’s a closer look at some of the top prospects on Miami’s radar:

Moses Moody – Five-Star Forward (Batesville, Arkansas): Moody is a 6’6”, 175-pound wing who is rated as the No. 8 player in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2021. He is a versatile scorer who can knock down shots from all over the court. He has good size and length for his position and is an excellent rebounder.

Earl Timberlake – Four-Star Guard (Washington, D.C.): Timberlake is a 6’5”, 190-pound guard who is rated as the No. 32 player in ESPN 100 for the class of 2021. He is a versatile player who can play either shooting guard or point guard He has good size and strength for his position and is an excellent shooter from long range.

Jason “Jody” Demetrius – Five-Star Guard (Naples, Florida): Demetrius is a 6’5”, 200-pound guard who is rated as the No. 11 player in ESPN 100 for the class of 2021. He is a physical player who can score points in a variety of ways. He has good size and strength for his position and is an excellent rebounder and defender.

Transfers

One of the areas that Miami will be looking to improve upon for next season is their frontcourt depth. With Ebuka Izundu and Rodney Miller, Jr. being the only returning big men the Hurricanes will be relying heavily on their recruiting class to provide some support in the post. Fortunately, they have a few players in mind that could make an immediate impact.

One name to keep an eye on is former Duke Blue Devil Chase Jeter. The 6’10” center announced his intention to transfer from Duke back in April and has since been released from his scholarship. He will have two years of eligibility remaining and will be eligible to play right away. Jeter was a highly touted recruit coming out of high school but never quite lived up to the hype at Duke. He averaged just 2.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per game last season as a junior, but he could blossom into a star with re Playing time. If he ends up at Miami, he would give them a much needed boost in the frontcourt.

Another player to keep an eye on is Samir Sehic. Sehic is a 6’10” forward who played his freshman season at Appalachian State before transferring to North Carolina State this past season. He only played in 13 games for NC State, averaging 0.7 points and 1 rebound in 4 minutes per game, but he has showed flashes of potential when given the chance. Sehic would have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules, but he would then have two years of eligibility remaining starting in 2018-19. He would be a nice addition to Miami’s frontcourt rotation down the road.

5-star recruits

5-star recruits are the top-rated players in the country according to recruiting services. They are typically highly sought-after by colleges and universities because of their potential to be very successful at the collegiate level and beyond. The University of Miami has had its share of 5-star recruits over the years, and the 2020 recruiting class is no different. Here are some of the 5-star recruits who have committed to play for the Hurricanes:

-Scottie Barnes: A 6’8” small forward from Fort Lauderdale Florida, Barnes is ranked as the No. 2 player in the 2020 class by ESPN. He is a versatile player who can score from anywhere on the court and is an excellent rebounder. Barnes has been compared to NBA Star Kawhi Leonard and he has the potential to be a star at Miami.

-N’Faly Dante: A 6’11” center from Mali, Africa, Dante is ranked as the No. 9 player in the 2020 class by 247Sports. He is a big body who can make an impact on both ends of the court. Dante is an excellent shot blocker and rebounder, and he has the potential to be a very good player at Miami.

-Tre Guy: A 6’5” shooting guard from Orlando, Florida, Guy is ranked as the No. 11 player in the 2020 class by 247Sports. He is a top-notch shooter with a High Basketball IQ. Guy has good size and length for his position, and he has the potential to be a very good player at Miami.

4-star recruits

The Miami Hurricanes have been without a Head Coach for about two weeks now, but that hasn’t stopped them from making progress on the recruiting trail

Associate head coach Jamal Adams has been overseeing the program’s recruiting efforts since Jim Larrañaga’s firing, and he’s already made some waves. On Monday, Adams visited 4-star recruit Ja’Quan Newton at his high school in Philadelphia.

Newton, a 6-foot-3 point guard is ranked No. 42 in the nation by 247Sports. He’s also being recruited by Louisville, Villanova, and Kansas.

The Hurricanes currently have one 4-star recruit in their 2021 class: Trey Wade a 6-foot-7 Small Forward from Orlando. Wade is ranked No. 79 in the nation by 247Sports.

3-star recruits

Of the three star recruits that have committed to the University of Miami for the 2020 season, two are Shooting Guards and one is a small forward Guards:

--Samuel Halpern is a 6’4”, 185-pound guard from Coral Gables Florida. He is a three-star recruit according to ESPN and Rivals. Halpern has good size for a shooting guard and is a good shooter, making 40.8 percent of his three point attempts last season. He is also a good free throw shooter, making 83.3 percent of his foul shots last season. Halpern needs to work on his ball handling and passing, but he has the potential to be a good player for the Hurricanes.

—Isaiah Wong is a 6’3”, 185-pound guard from Queens, New York. Wong is also a three-star recruit according to ESPN and Rivals. Wong is a good shooter, making 39.6 percent of his three point attempts last season. He is also a good free throw shooter, making 77.8 percent of his foul shots last season. Wong needs to work on his ball handling and passing, but he has the potential to be a good player for the Hurricanes.

Forwards:
--Matthew Cross is a 6’7”, 190-pound forward from Orlando, Florida. Cross is a three-star recruit according to ESPN and Rivals. Cross is long and athletic with the ability to play both small forward and power forward He averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds per game last season while shooting 50 percent from the field and 30 percent from three-point range Cross needs to add strength in order to be able to compete at the collegiate level, but he has the potential to be a good player for the Hurricanes

2-star recruits

The Miami Hurricanes have a lot to prove this season after a disappointing finish last year. They will be looking to add some talent to their roster through the recruiting process and there are a few 2-star recruits that they will be keeping an eye on.

Isaiah Wong is a 6-foot-3 guard from New York. He is a versatile player that can score from anywhere on the court. He is currently ranked as the No. 12 player in the state of New York and the No. 102 player in the nation by 247Sports.

Thomas Dziagwa is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Florida. He is a great shooter that can stretch the floor and open up driving lanes for his teammates. He is currently ranked as the No. 23 player in the state of Florida and the No. 153 player in the nation by 247Sports.

Rodney Miller is a 6-foot-8 forward from Georgia. He is a physical presence in the post that can rebound and block shots at a high level. He is currently ranked as the No. 35 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 190 player in the nation by 247Sports
