As the official start to spring rapidly approaches, so does the return of college baseball After what feels like an eternity, the crack of the bat and the smell of fresh-cut grass will once again fill air. Kansas State Baseball will look to build off their 27-27 (9-15 Big 12) 2019 campaign in which they finished ninth in the conference.

The Wildcats will look significantly different in 2020, as they have lost 12 seniors and juniors to graduation or draft eligible players signing professional contracts. In their place, Head Coach Brad Hill will plug in 14 new faces, 10 of which are freshmen.

Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Cowboys and Wildcats have been rivals since 1897, making this one of the oldest rivalries in college baseball The two teams have played each other nearly 200 times, with Oklahoma State holding a slim lead in the all-time series. In recent years Oklahoma State has been one of the best teams in the country, while Kstate has struggled to keep up. However, the Wildcats did get a Big Win last season when they knocked off then-#1 ranked Oklahoma State in Stillwater. This year’s series will be played from April 5-7 at Tointon Family Stadium.

Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns and Wildcats have been playing each other since 1903, making this another one of college baseball’s oldest rivalries. The two teams have played each other nearly 200 times as well, with Texas holding a commanding lead in the all-time series. Like Oklahoma State Texas has been one of the best teams in recent years while Kstate has struggled to keep up. However, last season Kstate won two out of three against Texas in Austin for their first series win against the Longhorns since 2011. This year’s series will be played from May 17-19 at Tointon Family Stadium.

Missouri Tigers
The Tigers and Wildcats have been playing each other since 1907 and is currently college baseball’s 3rd oldest rivalry. The two teams have played each over 190 times, with Missouri holding a slim lead in the all-time series. Unlike Kansas and Oklahoma State Missouri has not been nearly as successful as Kstate recently, finishing below .500 every year since 2013. However, Missouri did sweep Kstate last season in Columbia and will be looking to do it again when they come to Manhattan for this year’s series from April 12-14.
