OVC Women’s Basketball Standings Week 1

The Ohio Valley Conference released the standings for week one of the season on Monday, December 3. The conference is made up of ten schools: Belmont, Eastern Illinois Jacksonville State Murray State Southeast Missouri, UT Martin, Austin Peay Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Tennessee Tech

In the East division, Murray State is in first place with a 4-0 record. Southeast Missouri is in second place with a 3-1 record. Jacksonville State is in third place with a 2-2 record. Eastern Kentucky is in fourth place with a 1-3 record. Austin Peay is in fifth place with a 0-4 record.

In the West division, Belmont is in first place with a 3-0 record. UT Martin is in second place with a 3-1 record. Eastern Illinois is in third place with a 2-2 record. Morehead State is in fourth place with a 1-3 record. Tennessee Tech is in fifth place with a 0-4 record.

As of the 2016 season, it comprises 12 member institutions principally located within Kentucky and Tennessee, although one school is physically located in Missouri. The OVC has offices in Brentwood, Tennessee.

The OVC hosts the annual OVC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana; men’s tournament games are also occasionally played at other locations within the conference footprint such as Nashville, Tennessee; and Paducah, Kentucky.

The OVC has member institutions that compete in basketball, cross country, golf, track & field, and tennis.

The conference began in 1948 as the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference and is currently made up of 12 schools.

The Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) is a collegiate athletic conference which operates in the Midwestern and Southeastern United States It participates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Division I, as a football-only conference; in other sports, it maintains active membership in Division I and is an affiliate member of several other NCAA conferences. TheOVC has 12 member institutions, all of which compete at the Division I level, including 10 that play football in the conference.

University of Tennessee at Martin – 4

The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team is in fourth place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings after week one of conference play The Skyhawks went 1-1 in their two conference games, defeating Murray State University but losing to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. With a 4-4 record overall and a 2-1 record in conference play the Skyhawks are currently tied for fourth place in the OVC standings with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Murray State University – 3

This week’s Murray State University OVC women’s Basketball Standings finds the Racers at 3 after playing only one game so far this season. The team’s conference record is 0-0.

Southeast Missouri State University – 3

Southeast Missouri State University is 3-0 after the first week of Ohio Valley Conference play. The Redhawks are one of four teams unbeaten in OVC action.

Austin Peay State University – 2

Through the first week of Ohio Valley Conference women’s basketball play Austin Peay State University holds a 2-0 record. The Governors began their season on the road with a 68-63 victory at Southeast Missouri before returning home to the Dunn Center to defeat Eastern Illinois, 89-75.

With the two wins, Austin Peay remains in first place in the OVC standings, ahead of Murray State (1-1), Southeast Missouri (1-1), Belmont (0-2), Eastern Illinois (0-2), UT Martin (0-2) and Tennessee Tech (0-2).

The Govs will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to take on Murray State Tipoff is set for 5:00pm CT.

University of Evansville – 2

The University of Evansville women’s Basketball team is currently in 2nd place in the Ohio Valley Conference Standings

Eastern Illinois University – 1

Eastern Illinois University is in first place in the Ohio Valley Conference’s women’s Basketball Standings after one week of play. The Panthers are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. EIU defeated Murray State 80-64, in their conference opener on December 4. Eastern Illinois will next play on December 7 at home against Southeast Missouri State

Tennessee State University – 0

The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team is currently in last place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings. The team has zero wins and two losses.

Jacksonville State University – 0

Jacksonville State University is currently in last place in the Ohio Valley Conference women’s Basketball Standings

Morehead State University – 0

The Morehead State University women’s Basketball team is currently in last place in the OVC standings after the first week of play. The team has yet to win a game, and have lost all three of their games by an average of 20 points. The Eagles will look to turn things around in week 2 as they take on Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay

Tennessee Tech University – 0

The Tennessee Tech University women’s basketball team is ranked last in the Ohio Valley Conference standings after the first week of play. The Golden Eagles are currently 0-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Northern Kentucky University – 0

The Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team is currently in last place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings after the first week of play. The Norse are 0-2 on the season and have yet to win a conference game.

The University of Tennessee at Martin has the best record in the conference so far, with a 4-0 record.

As we move into the first week of conference play for Ohio Valley Conference women’s basketball, the University of Tennessee at Martin has the best record in the conference so far, with a 4-0 record. They are followed closely by Murray State who also has a 4-0 record. Belmont is 3-1, while Austin Peay and Jacksonville State are both 2-2. Eastern Kentucky, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri State and Tennessee Tech all have 1-3 records. Rounding out the bottom of the conference is Morehead State with an 0-4 record.

Murray State University and Southeast Missouri State University are tied for second place, with 3-1 records.

In the race for the Ohio Valley conference championship there are a number of teams still in contention. After the first week of play, Eastern Illinois University, Tennessee State University Jacksonville State University Morehead State University and Tennessee Tech University are all tied for fifth place, with 1-3 records. Just behind them are Austin Peay State University and Murray State University who are both 1-4. At the bottom of the standings are Southeast Missouri State University and UT Martin, who have yet to win a game.

The top four teams in the conference will advance to the OVC tournament, which will be held from March 4-7. The tournament will be hosted by the regular season champion.

Northern Kentucky University is in last place, with a 0-4 record.

As of November 13th, the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team is in last place in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, with a 0-4 record. The team’s next game is against Eastern Kentucky University on November 17th.
