Louisiana Tech Baseball is Headed to the NCAA Tournament

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Baseball Team has been selected to participate in the NCAA tournament The Bulldogs will face off against the Rice Owls in the first round. This is the first time that Louisiana Tech has made it to the NCAA Tournament since 1987.

The Road to the NCAA Tournament

After an amazing season, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are headed to the NCAA tournament! This is their first appearance in the tournament since 1987 and they are determined to make a good showing. The team’s success is due in large part to their strong pitching staff. Their ace, junior right-hander Connor Seabold, has been nearly unhittable all season. He is joined by a solid group of starters and Relief pitchers who have kept opponents from scoring runs.

The Team’s Preparation

It’s been a busy few days for the Louisiana Tech baseball team The Bulldogs learned Sunday night they’d be headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1987.

The team left Monday morning for Texas, where they’ll play TCU in Fort Worth on Wednesday. Coach Greg Goff says the team arrived in Texas late Monday afternoon and will have a light practice Tuesday before getting ready for their game against TCU on Wednesday.

While the team is definitely excited about their upcoming tournament games, they know that they have to put in the hard work to make it far. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are the number one seed in the Oxford Regional, which means they will have home field advantage throughout the tournament. The first game will be played on Friday, June 1st at 6pm CT against four seed UIC. If they win that game, they will play again on Saturday at 2pm CT against the winner of Ole Miss and Illinois State The Championship game will be on Sunday at 1pm CT.

The Bulldogs are no stranger to the NCAA Tournament appearing in it 19 times in program history. They have a record of 27-22 in NCAA Tournament games, and they will be looking to add to that total this year.

The Louisiana Tech baseball team is headed to the NCAA tournament! Here are the results of their season:

They had a regular season record of 30-25 and went 15-15 in conference play

In the conference tournament they defeated UTSA 3-1 in the first round before losing to Rice 9-5 in the second round.

As a result of their regular season and conference tournament record, they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament

This will be their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2014.

After Louisiana Tech’s victory over Southern Miss in the Conference USA Championship game the Bulldogs find out their NCAA Tournament fate.

As the No. 1 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional, Louisiana Tech will face off against No. 4 seed Army West Point in the first round on Friday, June 1 at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

The Bulldogs (42-17) are making their sixth NCAA tournament appearance in program history and first since 2015. Louisiana Tech is coming off its second Conference USA Regular Season championship and third conference title overall after winning the Conference Tournament title in 2017.
