The infield will feature a veteran presence with six returnees. Seniors Braden Westbrook and Jordan Ross will man the corner field positions Westbrook, who was second on the team in homeruns last season, will move from first base to third base this season. Ross will start his fourth year as the Islanders’ shortstop. Joining them in the middle of the infield will be junior second baseman Matt Mitchell and freshman first baseman Elijah Trail. Mitchell returns after leading the team in batting average and on-base percentage last season. Trail comes to TAMUCC after a stellar High School career where he was a two-time all-state selection.
