Hockey East Standings: Who’s on the Rise?
As the college hockey regular season comes to an end, let’s take a look at the current Hockey East standings.
As of February 26th, the top four teams in the conference are:
1. Boston College 24 Points
2. Northeastern- 23 Points
3. Massachusetts- 19 Points
4. Providence- 18 Points
The biggest surprise of the season so far has been the play of the Massachusetts Minutemen, who were picked to finish near the bottom of the conference in most preseason polls.
The Minutemen have been led by stellar goaltending and a balanced scoring attack, and they currently sit in third place with a chance to move up even further in the standings.
Another team on the rise is Providence, who has put together an impressive second half of the season after a slow start. The Friars are currently riding a six-game Winning Streak and sit in fourth place, just two points behind third place Massachusetts.
Providence will look to keep their winning streak alive this weekend as they take on seventh place Connecticut in a two-game series.

Hockey East is one of the premier college hockey conferences in the country, and with just a few weeks left in the Regular Season the race for the conference title is heating up.
Boston College currently sits atop the standings with a record of 15-3-2, but they are closely followed by Northeastern (15-5-1), Providence (14-5-2), and Boston University (13-6-3).
With just a few weeks remaining in the regular season it’s still anyone’s conference to win. But a few teams are in danger of missing out on the Hockey East playoffs entirely.
Maine (9-12-1), UConn (8-12-2), and Merrimack (7-13-2) are currently at the bottom of the standings and will need to make up some ground if they want to qualify for the postseason.

Hockey East is a college hockey conference which operates in the northeastern United States Founded in 1984, the conference comprises of ten member schools. It is a member of the NCAA’s Division I and is one of the six conferences that compete for the Hockey East Association championship.
In the 2019-2020 Season the University of Massachusetts Amherst Minutemen are at the top of the conference standings. The team has an overall record of 24-5-3 and a conference record of 16-3-2. They are followed by the University of Maine Black Bears who have an overall record of 19-9-4 and a conference record
of 14-6-2. The University of New Hampshire Wildcats are in third place with an overall record of 20-10-3 and a conference record of 13-7-2.
