Top Prospects

As the end of the 2020-21 NHL season approaches, it’s time to start looking ahead to the 2023 NHL Draft Although it’s still early, there are already a few prospects who stand out among the rest. Here are the top prospects for the 2023 NHL Draft along with where they might end up being drafted.

1. Cade Macartney, C, Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
Macartney is a brilliant playmaker with great vision and hockey IQ. He sees the ice well and makes smart decisions with the puck. He’s also an excellent skater with good speed and acceleration. Macartney is committed to Cornell University and is expected to be a top-10 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft

2. Simon Edvinsson, D, Frolunda HC (SHL)
Edvinsson is a big, strong defender who is excellent at both ends of the ice. He’s a great skater with good speed and mobility for his size. Edvinsson is also a physical player who isn’t afraid to throw his weight around. He’s expected to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft

3. Matthew Savoie, RW, Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL)
Savoie is an electrifying offensive player with incredible speed and skill. He’s an excellent skater who can blow by defenders and create offense off the rush. Savoie is also a gifted playmaker with great vision and hockey IQ. He’s expected to be a top-10 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft

4. Owen Power D, University of Michigan (NCAA)
Power is a towering defender at 6’7″ tall and he uses his size well at both ends of the ice. He’s an excellent skater for his size with good speed and mobility. Power is also a physical player who isn’t afraid to throw his weight around or use his long reach to defend against opponents’ attacks. He’s expected to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft

Mock Draft

With the NHL Draft Lottery now complete, teams are starting to position themselves for what looks to be a loaded 2023 Draft Class While there’s still plenty of time for things to change, here’s an early look at how the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft could shake out.

Analysis

With the 2021 NHL Draft now in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to start looking ahead to next year’s draft.

The 2022 NHL Draft will be held on June 24, 2022, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

As it stands right now, the Tampa Bay Lightning are in line to have the first overall pick. However, that could change depending on how they fare in the 2021-22 season and whether or not they make any trades between now and then.

With the 2022 NHL Entry Draft completed, it’s time to turn our attention to the 2023 NHL Entry Draft

The 2023 NHL Entry Draft will be held on June 30, 2023, at a yet to be determined location. The first round of the draft will begin at 7:00 PM EDT (4:00 PM PDT).

As of right now, it is unclear who will go first overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft However, there are a few players who are standouts and could potentially be the first pick in the draft.

Pierson Brandon is a center from Salmon Arm, British Columbia. He currently plays for the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League (WHL). In 43 games during the 2020-21 season, Brandon scored 24 goals and had 54 points. He is 6’3″ and weighs in at 201 pounds.

Matthew Savoie is a right winger from St. Albert, Alberta. He currently plays for the Sherwood Park Crusaders in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). In 44 games during the 2020-21 season, Savoie scored 28 goals and had 67 points. He is 6’0″ and weighs in at 170 pounds.

goaltending prospect from Phoenix, Arizona. She currently plays for Notre Dame High School in Arizona . In 25 games during her junior year , Coburn posted an 18-5-2 record with a .940 save percentage and a 1.17 goals against average . She has verbally committed to play college hockey for Northeastern University . Coburn is 6’1″ and weighs 175 pounds .

As mentioned before , it is still too early to say definitively who will go first overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft . However , these three players are standouts in their respective positions and could be potential first round picks come June 30th , 2023 .
